FOOTWEAR PRODUCTION OPERATIONS MANAGER (Central Vietnam)Oversees a cross functional team in the Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance functions for new products from confirmed sample stage through commercialization and into bulk production. The position also requires some knowledge of Product Development to support future growth in the region. Maintains connectivity with the product through the initial production phase and confirms the QA standards. Monitors daily the Product Manufacturing Schedule to ensure on time delivery and reports to planning any deviation from the plan. Manage relationship with factory top management but with support from Production Team & Operation director in implementing CI techniques and quality tools in daily production operations. Influence factory production/ quality middle management and drive change to achieve production objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides the development manager with solid engineering support in the Asia product creation process from bulk sample review onwards. Be available to support the product development team during initial stages of development. Be available when called upon to work with factory pattern and tooling engineers in converting initial design renderings into successful and profitably commercialized product. Be available to support Portland and local last makers during new last development. As needed, review blue prints and other drawings to ensure accuracy and functionality of mold details. As needed, review wooden models and upper patterns to ensure design integrity.
2. Manage the engineering information, ensure its accuracy and lead meetings when key engineering subjects are under review.
3. Demonstrate an awareness of and engage in all phases of the Columbia product process. Support the development team in ensuring that projects are proven and tested, completed on time, are manufactural, meet design intent, performance, costing and sustainability goals.
4. Constantly review and evaluate the project status with your Zhuhai / Portland engineering counterparts and keep them continually in the loop regarding issues which may take the project outside of its predetermined track.
5. Utilize footwear technical skills to achieve project objectives and communicate any deviation from the projected course with the Asian developer, Portland engineer and Vietnam supervisor.
6. Support the development team by applying technical understandings of product and category objectives, quality and fit goals, best practices, testing and consumer requirements.
7. Maintain current files on all assigned models designated. Files should include all technical issues and sampling sequences throughout the process along with relevant laboratory test results and testing history.
8. Training and mentoring of engineers / QAs is a core accountability of this job and is a key function against which job performance will be measured.
9. Take on the principal commercialization role as the product moves from T4 stage of development and into full scale manufacturing ensuring that the Asian and Portland teams are fully updated on the progress.
10. See new models into production and follow their progress for the life of the model.
11. Daily walk the factory lines to ensure all processes are carried out correctly, that quality levels are maintained and the Q.A. Inspectors are performing their duties as required.
12. Check daily production schedule is being met, report to Zhuhai office any deviations and work with factory to improve any delay situations.
13. Check that daily bond tests and where necessary daily waterproof tests are being carried and meeting Columbia requirements.
14. Work with factory / chemical team on VOC reduction project, mold control / 6S & Lean application.
15. Support & work with developer & tooling supplier on opening new tooling.
16. Work with Chemical engineer & chemical supplier on quality control as BPFC & RSL.
17. Support costing team on process checking for cost saving.
18. Work with CS material team on any deviation or concern.
19. Work with factory on ramp-up to make sure smooth transition.
20. Perform other duties as assigned by Director.

6. Supervision of assistant engineers and Q.A.Inspectors comes within the scope of this role.
Minimum Educational/Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree in a technical, engineering, or industrial design field.
5-8 years footwear experience in a footwear engineering discipline or product creation with a global brand, minimum 2 years in managing subordinates
A strong understanding of the principles of pattern engineering, costing, quality implications, model making, part drawings, and manufacturing processes.
Project management skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to motivate and mentor others within the working group.
Demonstrated skill in problem solving and results orientation.
