Columbia Sportswear Company is seeking a Data Engineer to join its Analytics Center of Excellence. The Analytics CoE is responsible for driving the culture of analytics as a core capability within the organization helping the business continue its path to data literacy. The team will deliver products at scale, in partnership with the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team. The Analytics CoE will be working closely with business partners to identify opportunities and develop standardized analytical and scalable approaches.The Data Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Advanced Analytics, will support the delivery of innovative analytical solutions to help answer the organizations pressing challenges and opportunities. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of complex organizational analytical and data needs to enable improvements in environment design, efficiency, controls and the overall user experience of enterprise data assets. This resource will lead activities that include: dimensional modeling, package creation, SQL script creation, stored procedure development, data lake and data warehouse development, integration services support and more.


Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Data Scientist and other members of the Analytics CoE in the creation of highly scalable data pipelines
Transform structured and unstructured data into a format that can be used for machine learning and analytics
Establish repeatable automated processes for building applications including testing, documenting, and deploying at scale
Participate in the broader Data Engineering community to leverage best practices and stay current with the latest techniques
Partner with the EIM team to ensure that all data products are production ready and running properly
Identify data quality issues and supportColumbia Sportswear CompanysData Governanceinitiativeby participating in necessary activities including data profiling
Participate in the use of Agile practices to elicit and refine requirements through an iterative process of planning, defining acceptance criteria, prioritizing, developing anddelivering enterprise data assets

Requirements
Bachelors Degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience building data warehouses, data lakes and real-time analytics platforms
Direct experience working with Data Scientists and implementing machine learning models including large-scale data processing, data structure optimization and scaling
Proficiency with programming languages such as R, Python (polyglot a plus)
Expert in SQL and query optimization for data platforms such as Azure SQL DW, HDInsight, Teradata, SAP BW/HANA.
Expertindatabase concepts, including normalization, indexing, physical and logical modeling, creation of SQL queries and performance tuning
Familiarity with the Kimball methods of data warehousing techniques,standardsand best practices
Experience with visualization frameworks such as D3.js preferred
Sound judgment and decision-making, and the appropriate sense of urgency and is a self-starter
Experience with Microsoft Azure: Data factory, data lake and data warehouse a bonus
