About the job

Contribute to the efficient distribution of Columbia Sportswear product by delivering job method training and support to new and existing associates in all production departments. Actively develop associates by identifying specific method feedback to achieve safety, quality and productivity goals. Contributes to training program design and documentation. Partners with managers and supervisors to achieve department and team goals.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Train new associates on defined methods for job functions and tasks with Analytical Method Training (AMT) exercises. Time new associates to provide feedback on how associate is progressing against goal.
Objectively observe existing and new employees to provide specific feedback as they learn. Communicate and demonstrate techniques to help associates understand how to excel and attain individual and team goals.
Assess and adapt to individual learning styles and preferences. Positively interact and encourage to highlight and influence success. Use a show approach as needed.
Training areas include all DC departments operations, procedures, policies, and overall safety.
Partner with managers and supervisors to coach up employees.
Be proactive in notifying leadership when opportunities for improvement are identified to drive continuous improvement.
Adapt to busy seasons when temporary staff hiring is more frequent.
Demonstrate flexibility to perform other secondary duties as assigned, which may include DC Associate job functions.
Ability to maintain composure, professionalism and cool under pressure to meet department and production goals.
Contributes and maintains to training program design and existing program enhancements. Partners with other Workforce Optimization team members to create timed job function exercises and job aids as needed.
Ability to read job function method time report and job aids.
Attendance and punctuality are essential.
Positive attitude is a must.

Secondary Functions:
Prepare and assist during various employee appreciation & wellness events.
Lead and participate in 6S and lean workplace training and projects to support operations.
Connect with employees for regular feedback cycle.
Involvement in change management of initiatives in the distribution center.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Strong communication skills.
Possess relevant warehouse operations knowledge.
Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English language instructions.
Intermediate computer skills including applicable knowledge and understanding of WMS, spreadsheets, word processing, and Labor Management System (LMS) is a plus.
Ability to perform repetitive arm/shoulder movements, and regularly lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time on concrete or metal grating.
Ability to handle personnel needs and concerns in a professional, discreet, and respectful manner.
Model time management in order to help associates meet learning milestones.
Knowledge of engineered labor standards and/or Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) is a plus.
Technical writing and/or process documentation experience is a plus.
Experience with Analytical Method Training (AMT) is a plus.
Experience:One to two years of experience in a distribution center environment. Demonstrated ability to perform the job functions as a successful and productive DC Associate. Demonstrated aptitude for training and motivating others, performing effective employee observations, and for communicating techniques that will help others attain individual and team goals
