ABOUT THE POSITION
The outerwear designer closely with VP Product and Brand Creative, Sr. Designers and Product Line Managers to design an apparel line for assigned categories and projects within Outerwear. This position will initiate and interpret new product concepts to meet the needs of our consumers, resulting in sales and growth for the company. Proposing design ideas based on seasonal assignments with regard to fabrication, style definition, functional features, fit requirements and design details. Refining concepts as directed by the VP, Design + Brand Creative. Works within target prices as much as possible and coordinates efforts with Production/Sourcing to assure most effective results

Responsible for providing sketches and line art to communicate design concepts, including multiple views and detail sketches as necessary

YOU ARE
Responsible for proposing design ideas based on seasonal assignments with regard to fabrication, style definition, functional features, fit requirements and design details. Refines concepts as directed by the VP, Product + Brand Creative. Works within target prices as much as possible and coordinates efforts with Production/Sourcing to assure most effective results.
Responsible for providing sketches and line art to communicate design concepts, including multiple views and detail sketches as necessary
Communicating design/concept boards to design for color direction
Working closely with Materials Research to define new areas to research and source
Participating in prototype process for assigned category(s). Includes initiating sample requests by working closely with Designers and Product Developer(s), reviewing samples and directing revisions as needed throughout the development cycle.
Providing backup support for Senior Designer(s) on rush projects, projects requiring CAD skills and assignments that cannot be completed by other staff members.

YOUHAVE
Bachelors degree or equivalent specializing in apparel design, fabric arts, or related field
2-4 years experience in apparel design preferable in outerwear
Experience with outdoor industry and apparel category preferred
Knowledge of computer design software as well as the ability to perform free hand drawings
