ABOUT THE POSITION
The DBA/Batch Engineer is a member of the prAna Information Technology team reporting to the Information Technology Manager and is responsible for working closely with the Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems (IS) teams to ensure high performance and high availability of our databases and associated overnight and daily batch runs.

This role will plan, design, implement and manage integrated Microsoft SQL databases in support of our key business applications and system integration needs. In addition, this role interacts with the IT and IS teams to determine data access requirements, transaction rates, volume analysis and other pertinent data required to develop and maintain healthy database environments. This role will manage, monitor, and maintain scheduled batch operations performed across the system landscape ensuring that they are performed in a timely and optimized manner.

Proactively manage SQL Server database related incidents and requests.

Perform system tuning and optimization to ensure high availability and system resiliency.

Proactively resolve batch issues to ensure business up time.

Provide guidance and assistance to programmers and end users in the design and implementation of solutions to provide optimized applications and integration solutions.

Participate in troubleshooting throughout development and implementation of solution enhancements.

Maintain database standards and documentation.

Identify and resolve production and/or application development problems related to the use of the database management system software or utilities.

Monitor the systems development activities as they relate to the database development effort.

Work cross functionally with our Global Information Systems team at Columbia Sportswear as required.


YOU ARE
Strong written and interpersonal customer facing skills

Strong attention to detail

General familiarity with web technologies, browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices

Proven success working collaboratively within cross-functional and distributed teams based on strong team spirit, solid work ethic and good communication

Must be motivated, independent and self-sufficient. Able to receive an assigned task and see it through to completion with minimal supervision


YOUHAVE
Bachelors degree, applicable certification, or equivalent experience specializing in Computer Science.

5-8 years database administration in Microsoft SQL Server

Experience in query optimization and tuning

Experience with database monitoring tools

Experience with both hosted and cloud based services including Azure and AWS

Experience with data discovery and classification

Proactively manage SQL Server database related incidents and requests.

Ability to execute against functional specifications/user requirements to produce solutions in line with business need

Able to develop, test, and deliver business focused solutions

PowerBI experience a plus


Travel Requirements:
Occasional domestic travel to Portland, OR when necessary
