About the job

This position will play a critical role within the global accounting function, coordinating accounting policy development and maintenance, new accounting standard adoption, contract review, and providing accounting guidance to a variety of stakeholders across the business. Conduct extensive research regarding the impact to financial statements of potential changes to accounting rules proposed by accounting standards setters and advises senior management and stakeholders. Coordinate the development, implementation, and communication of new policies and procedures to comply with newly issued accounting standards. Provide accounting guidance related to proposed transactions to ensure conformity to generally accepted accounting practices and company policies and procedures.

HOWYOULLMAKE A DIFFERENCE
You will lead the development, implementation and communication of accounting policies while coordinating with other accounting functions, global regions and business partners.
You will provide consultation to other accounting departments and functional business partners on unusual technical accounting and financial reporting matters to ensure conformity to generally accepted accounting policies and company policies and procedures.
You will review contractual agreements and document appropriate accounting treatment for contract terms. Communicate conclusions to other accounting departments and business partners.
You will monitor the activities of accounting standard setting bodies to ensure timely identification of emerging pronouncements and provide thought leadership.
You will educate management and other stakeholders on emerging FASB & SEC developments; engage with pertinent team members and coordinate adoption and implementation plans for items impacting Columbia Sportswear.
You will prepare memorandums supporting the companys accounting conclusions pertaining to new standard adoption, application of generally accepted accounting practices and treatment of unusual or significant transactions.
Prepare certain aspects of materials to be presented to the audit committee of the board of directors and coordinate presentation topics with other departments, including Tax, Treasury, Finance, and Internal Audit, and the external auditors.
Review and provide comments on quarterly SEC filings.

YOU ARE
A CPA
Able to explain complex accounting concepts to non-accountants.
Ready to play a key role in Columbia's adherence to GAAP and SEC regulations.

YOUHAVE
Public Accounting Experience
Big Four Experience (is a plus).
