As part of a shared services team, the Art Director (full-time, salaried, regular, on-site) works as an experienced visual director and designer for Powder and Bike Mag which combines hands-on graphic design and brand stewardship to ensure all products and visual aspects are on-brand, inspired, and appealing. Proficiency in InDesign is a must. The position collaborates with editorial teams, digital teams, sales and marketing, corporate, and the events department. Candidates considered will possess intangibles, experience in the Ski/Mountain Bike worlds, versatility in regards to creative style, and a good attitude. The chosen Art Director has creative vision, a good work ethic and attendance habits, and the ability to meet multiple deadlines. Essential responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
⏵ Experienced Magazine design.
⏵ Designing across all channels including online, print, on-site (events), social media, e-mail, mobile, and video.
⏵ Tasks that range from top-level ideation to menial work.
⏵ Knowledge of creating digitally optimized assets for various technologies.
⏵ Redesigns and re-branding projects.
⏵ Collaboration with photo and video editors on various projects.
⏵ Leading contributing artists/illustrators and occasional freelance production designers.
⏵ Developing and maintaining standards, systems and best practices for all creative work-flows.
⏵ BFA in Graphic Design or bachelor’s degree in Arts or equivalent knowledge base preferred.
⏵ 3+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
⏵ Experience in print and digital design required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
⏵ Experience in high-volume page layout required.
⏵ Experience with creating compelling visuals for different target audiences.
⏵ Ski and Mountain Bike experience preferred.
⏵ Expert-level skill at Adobe Creative Suite applications (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Proficiency in InDesign required.
⏵ Strong typographic skills.
⏵ Consistent execution of strong visual hierarchy.
⏵ Clear articulation of brand direction behind each design project.
⏵ Able to manage multiple deadlines.
⏵ Expertise with developing creative solutions and working with brand identity.
⏵ A willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategies on the fly.
⏵ Ability to learn the latest platforms and technology tools, best practices, and evolve with creative standards
⏵ Motion graphics/Adobe After Effects skills a plus.
⏵ Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge and Acrobat.
⏵ Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
