We’re looking for that unique individual to represent Outerknown and lead a team in the South Bay. The person chosen for this role should know and understand the impact of Dale Velzy, Bruce Brown, Hap Jacobs, and historic Manhattan Beach in the 40’s/50’s. We’re opening in the South Bay for a reason and we’re looking for someone to carry the torch.

OVERVIEW

The Store Manager (SM) is responsible for overseeing the operational execution of the store; ensures positive customer experiences; demonstrates ability to meet individual sales and metric goals; drives profitable top-line sales growth and coaches store associates to consistently provide customers with an exceptional shopping experience.

Outerknown is looking for a Store Manager to join the team and help us expand into brick & mortar retail. This is a pivotal role in the company and will involve both store operations – conceptualizing and build-out, recruiting and training a store team, and managing our first store – as well as translating operating learnings into strategic recommendations for a broader roll-out in the future. The Store Manager will also oversee “OuterSpace”, the retail space at Outerknown HQ for pop-up events and private shopping experiences.

DEFINING THE SM ROLE

Awesome SMs are outgoing, engaging, and determined to achieve results. At the same time, they prefer consistency and order, slow down enough to carefully evaluate information and trends, and focus on customers and associates. Awesome SM’s give credit to their team when it’s due rather than take credit for themselves.

A top performing SM drives execution in the store through coaching of sales associates which results in profitable top-line sales growth. A consistent and positive customer experience is coached and reinforced both on the sales floor and in the backroom. The SM understands the key business drivers and adjusts the business accordingly. The Operations Team & HQ provide clear direction and feedback so the SM can focus on execution.

STORE MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports To: Operations Manager

Supervises: Sales Supervisors, Key Leads and Store Associates (including Seasonal/Temporary)

Execute the following role and responsibilities in order to deliver consistent, positive, customer experience and drive profitable top-line sales growth.
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role Store Managers are Brand Ambassadors for Outerknown, and will:

Work closely with Leadership to analyze the business and create action plans
Support Outerknown’s vision through ownership & accountability for the overall sales and profitability of the store
Lead consistent focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience
Ensure implementation of company selling strategies by motivating and inspiring sales team to reach sales goals
Establish Customer Satisfaction
Confidently handle potential media exposure
Develop and maintain a Clientele Program, including operating with the Community Manager for Pop-Up events at Retail Store & HQ “OuterSpace” Store
Coach, Develop and maximize the success of all staff – this should include building a team who works well together based on the needs of the store
Recruit, hire and develop store staff
Establish succession planning and retain top talent
Maximize sales potential by coaching associates behaviors on the sales floor and in the back room
Analyze business and recommend/create action plans
Communicate effectively with/to team
Direct all merchandise flow by partnering with Outerknown Merchants to ensure sales goals are met and inventory is available
Ensure visual & merchandising standards and a positive in-store experience
Direct/execute Outerknown Policies & Procedures
Manage controllable expenses
Loss Prevention and Safety
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Minimum of (3) three years of specialty, luxury goods or a comparable retail environment
Prior sales management experience
Proven ability to drive sales results, able to analyze selling reports, identify business trends and react quickly to the needs of the business
Comfort in making decisions and mediating conflict within a team-environment
Ability to address complex issues and allocate time to execute multiple tasks and changing priorities
Exceptional interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
Ability to identify top talent and train/develop/retain great people
Experience creating schedules and managing time & attendance
Proficient in windows-based software such as Excel, Word and Outlook as well as Google based software such as Sheets, Slides, and Docs.
Experience opening a store from the ground up a plus!
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES

Ability to work a flex schedule (which includes nights, weekend and holiday availability)
Ability to lift at least 20 lbs
Ability to climb ladders
Ability to stand/walk for long periods at a time
Ability to travel (auto/airplane/train), visit stores and attend HQ meetings
