Duties include using good judgement and discretion to complete tasks including, but not limited to the following:

• Locates vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, qualify new vendors and sources
• Represents companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
• Processes requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment; maintain records of goods ordered and received
• Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
• Develops and implements purchasing and contract management instructions, as well as internal policies, and procedures
• Resolves vendor or supplier conflicts and/or grievances and claims against suppliers and/or negotiating with others
• Manages and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies
• Provides information to supervisors and team members efficiently and effectively
• Analyzes information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
• Assumes responsibility for own continued personal and professional growth
• Performs various purchasing assignments to procure inventory, supplies, raw materials and equipment
• Checks requisitions for completeness, accuracy and compliance with authority to buy level
• Obtains quotations and recommends successful bidder and may be authorized to make awards within fixed limits
• Exercises judgment, ingenuity and a good working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to negotiate purchases with consideration for best quality, quantity, delivery and price
• Maintains purchasing records and databases
• Participates in continuous improvement programs

Requirements:

· Bachelors Degree in business, supply chain, engineering or related degree preferred
· Minimum of 5 years of purchasing for manufacturing industry required
· Proficiency with ERP systems including data analysis and reporting
· Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel
· Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively
· Able to set and meet or exceed deadlines and/or commitments
· Demonstrated negotiation skills with ease in requesting discounts from vendors
· Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
· Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
· Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
· Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work
· Excellent organization and prioritization skills, managing one's own time and respecting the time of others within the team
· Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience; convey verbal and written information effectively
· Determining causes of errors or problems, practice root cause analysis and preventing future errors
· Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
· Assumes responsibility for own continued personal and professional growth
· Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively
· Intrinsically motivated to reduce costs for the organization
