As Product Developer you will be expected to lead the development and execution of products as well as drive new innovations in fabrications, techniques, and processes. Work closely to support design, create, and manage production from concept to completion, end to end. Review and make updates during the development phase and be responsible for managing communication directly with factories to create prototypes, test new applications and refine the product’s construction and fit. Manage all aspects of development from reviewing samples and submits for approval in all categories. Ensure product development is in accordance with projected margins and production calendar. Help coordinate the product through the development process, and calendar with the responsibility for meeting all deadlines.

Job functions:

• Communicate with Asian, European, and South American vendors.

• Continually make sure that tech packages are complete and free from errors. Deliver tech packages to vendors precisely within the development calendar time frame.

• Create and maintain a development tracker and ensure all calendar requirements are met.

• Develop materials, hardware, and trims in accordance with brand and product specific standards, color standards, and timeline goals.

• Manage print and color development from creation to final approval. Track strike-offs, lab dips, and all related approval needs.

• Manage tracking, comments, and calendar related to all product phases (Protos, SMS, etc.).

• Address styling & fit comments during development (in conjunction with the Design team).

• Partner with Design and Merchandise to achieve target costing and margin requirements.

• Assist in cost negotiations to ensure targets are met along with product objectives.

• Ensure each product is 100% approved and production ready at specific deadlines.

• Create and maintain WIP Reports and help with QC inspections.

• Assist in shipping and tracking. (when needed)

• Manage fit, field testing, and evaluation of prototypes where applicable.


Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in technical apparel design.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.

• Ability to create and maintain tech packs in a timely manner. (where applicable)

• Ability to work with vendors to ensure execution and manufacturability

• Ability to interpret concept ideas and offer solutions.

• Ability to manage product and meet landed cost targets and operating expenses.

• Develop systems and procedures for efficient process tracking of all project stages.

• Strong written, verbal and quantitative skills.

• Experienced with product development software; including Adobe: Illustrator, Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

• Ability & willingness to independently travel both domestically and internationally to see concepts through to production at the factory level.

• Excellent oral, written and computer communication skills for interaction with both internal and external sources.
