Glenn Brumage Named Executive Director of Surfing Heritage and Culture Center

January 17, 2018

Surfing Heritage and Culture Center has appointed Glenn Brumage as its new Executive Director, the Board of Directors announced today

“As Surfing Heritage and Culture Center (SHACC) has matured, improved its programming and community engagement, the Board of Directors recognizes the need for new leadership that will facilitate the necessary evolution and elevation of the organization.” said Denny Michael, President of SHACC.

“Glenn has stepped up to prove himself a driven and competent leader, especially over the last year. We couldn’t have asked for a better trial period than his three-year tenure on the board of directors and his leadership as president.” reported founder Dick Metz.

Brumage stepped down from his position as Board Chair in order to accept the position of Executive Director. His professional career has spanned 40 years in executive management of boardsports companies. For ten years, he has been driving the development of surfing in China and runs the annual “Silver Dragon” professional surf contest in Hangzhou. Most recently, he has been consulting for businesses and mentoring young entrepreneurs. He also serves on the board of the International Association of Skateboard Companies.

“Surfing is my passion” says Mr. Brumage. “While I come from a business background, I’ve served on two non-profit boards of directors, and as President of SHACC’s board. I understand the differences as well as similarities between commercial and non-profit management. I sincerely look forward to sharing the importance of surfing history and surf culture with future generations.”
