Charge E-Bikes Serves Up Sponsorship of US Open Pickleball Championships

March 22, 2021

Charge, the direct-to-consumer electric bike brand, and a brand of Dorel Sports, has partnered with the US Open Pickleball Championships, as an official sponsor of the largest Pickleball event in the world. Founded in 2016, the internationally acclaimed seven-day competition draws spectators and competitors of all abilities from around the world.

“We love how pickleball is a fun, accessible activity for people of all ages and abilities,” said Nick Larsen, founder of Charge. “This is in line with Charge’s mission of making biking easy and accessible to everyone. Both activities are helping people get outside and enjoy themselves, so we are very pleased to be participating in this event.”

The emerging sport of Pickleball is similar to Tennis and played on a smaller 20 foot by 44-foot court. With a net down the middle, a whiffle ball is served diagonally using a paddle with either single or double players on each side. The first team scoring eleven points and leading by at least two points wins.

Charge will have a booth at the event where they will be hosting contests, offering exclusive discounts, hosting a raffle to win a Charge bike, and more.

“We are excited to have Charge as one of our partners for this event,” said Terri Graham, Co-founder of the US Open Pickleball Championship. “The brand shares similar values and we are looking forward to riding the bike to center court to announce the winner in the Championship match.”

With 59 courts surrounding one championship court, this year’s event will offer limited seating due to COVID restrictions. CBS Sport Network will broadcast the men’s and women’s Pro finals live from 7 PM to 9 PM EST on Saturday, April 24.
