Boost Mobile and Mazda Bring Tijuana Sabor to ASR

World’s Top Action Sports Athletes and Platinum-Selling Hip-Hop Artists Head to Wavehouse in San Diego on Sept. 10 to Enjoy South of the Border Hospitality at Boost Mobile Pro Launch Party

SAN DIEGO, California - Cervezas, sombreros, tacos and a live donkey!  Are we south of the border? No; it’s the official Boost Mobile Pro of Surf and ASR Party presented by Mazda.  Boost Mobile and Mazda are hosting the definitive fiesta at this year’s ASR (Action Sports Retailer) Trade Expo in San Diego on September 10. Many of the action sports industry’s top athletes, including Kelly Slater, Todd Richards, Geoff Rowley, Terry Kennedy, Rick Thorne, Taj Burrow and more will descend upon the Wavehouse in San Diego for the kickoff event also sponsored by Quiksilver and Red Bull.
As the official launch party for the 2005 Boost Mobile Pro of Surf - mainland America’s only World Championship Tour (WCT) pro surfing event - the Tijuana-style fiesta also will include:

• Tamales and Hip-Hop: adding humor to Hip-Hop and celebrating Mexican culture at the same time Chingo Bling, who has elevated his game from selling tamales to rapping about food recipes, will perform prior to platinum selling stars Mike Jones and Slim Thug
• Wave Pool Surfing Competition: Boost Mobile and Quiksilver pro athletes will compete against each other on Wavehouse’s The FlowRider® endless wave machine
• Platinum Hip-Hop Headliners:  Rap stars Mike Jones and Slim Thug will be the headlining talent of the evening, furthering Boost Mobile’s commitment to blend the world of action sports and hip-hop

One of San Diego’s latest and hottest clubs, the Wavehouse offers a beach environment complete with tiki bars and a beach barbeque, as well as an amazing showcase of the very best athletes in board sports riding the perfect wave. The Wavehouse and the ASR Trade Expo - the ultimate showcase of the action sports and youth lifestyle market attracting the world's largest and most powerful brands and buyers representing such diverse markets as surf, skate, swim, snow, footwear, and fashion - make the perfect combination for the luau event.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 10, from 7pm to 1am, at San Diego’s Wavehouse located at 3125 Mission Blvd., San Diego. The top action sports athletes, celebrities, tastemakers and industry insiders will be in attendance, in addition to Boost Mobile team riders Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Luke Egan, Beau Emerton, Makua Rothman, Mark Occhillupo, Mike Parsons, Nathan Webster, Shane Beschen, Shane Dorian, Taj Burrow, Ian Walsh, Jamie O’Brien Dane Reynolds and Veronica Kay.

Other Boost Mobile events to take place at this year’s ASR show include Eric Koston’s eS Game of SKATE Amateur World Championships in which 12 national and eight international winners will compete on Saturday, Sept. 10 against Boost Mobile and Es top skate team riders including Geoff Rowley, Terry Kennedy, 11-year-old phenom Taylor Smith and Eric Koston himself for the world championship. Boost Mobile is also hosting the Gold Box Mission, debuting at ASR, in which ten of this year’s up-and-coming alternative retail brands will showcase their 2006 lines.
