Airwalk Turns Up the Music,

Announces Results From “Airwalk Unsigned Hero” Showcase

(ENGLEWOOD , CO) Airwalk®, one of the most recognized lifestyle brands established in 1986, recently announced St. Louis-based “Modern Day Zero” as the winners of the Airwalk Unsigned Hero 2006 , a competition held in conjunction with Revolver Magazine for unsigned bands to earn the chance vie at a record contract and perform at the House of Blues in Anaheim along with big names Disturbed and The DramaGods on January 20, 2006.  Modern Day Zero were chosen from more than 2,000 demos submitted based on their clear talent, performance style and passion for their music.

The Airwalk Unsigned Hero 2006 competition is part of Airwalk’s efforts to support its lifestyle community by bringing hidden musical talent into the limelight of the youth culture and helping bands gain recognition. As the 2006 Airwalk Unsigned Hero, Modern Day Zero was awarded endorsements from Airwalk Footwear, Revolver Magazine, Washburn Guitars, Randall Amplifiers, Pearl Drums, and Blast Energy Drinks.  This was the first of what is anticipated to be many, events and promotions that Airwalk will create and support as a influential brand in the underground music culture.

“We are honored, to be chosen as the Airwalk Unsigned Hero from the vast number of bands who submitted,” said Scott Gertken of Modern Day Zero.  “Being selected as the inaugural band, makes it that much more special. We hope to set the standard and pave the way for future Airwalk Unsigned Heroes by making the most of this incredible opportunity.”

Along with the opportunity to submit demos to become the Airwalk Unsigned Hero, individuals were able to submit their information for the opportunity to win a trip for two to Anaheim to see the show, and enjoy a weekend in Southern California. Airwalk’s winner was Robert Connaghan from Laramie , Wyoming . Robert brought his friend Nathan and the two both had the opportunity to enjoy a private signing with Disturbed, and hand out with Modern Day Zero during and post show.

This weekend was an absolute blast.  I met some amazing people, heard some amazing bands, and in general wouldn't trade it for the world,” said Robert Connaghan.  “And by the way...these are the most comfortable shoes EVER!”
