Global Quiksilver Brand Enthusiasts Called to Choose
(Huntington Beach, CA) March 1, 2006 --- Quiksilver, a division of Quiksilver Inc. (NYSE: ZQK -, and the world's leading active youth lifestyle brand, today announced the closing of the submission period and the beginning of the voting period for Quiksilver's Quik Films short film contest. The Quik Films contest received hundreds of submissions since it was first announced on February 2nd. Quiksilver's internal panel of judges composed of team riders, designers, and marketing experts chose the 40 films that best reflected the creativity and the personality of the Quiksilver brand. For the next 10 weeks, visitors to the Quik Films website will have the opportunity to view the short films and vote for a winner. 

Designed to recognize exploration, style and personal expression within the filmmaking community, Quik Films is the natural progression for a brand founded on fostering individual athletic and creative talent. Whether the canvas is a mountain, wave, sidewalk or the silver screen, Quiksilver supports the newest and most progressive athletes and artists. 

"Quik Films reinforces Quiksilver's inherent connection and appeal to the emerging artist community," said Rob Colby, Vice President of Quiksilver Entertainment. "Quiksilver's design team is recognized as some of the top artists in their arena and now our enthusiasts have brought us some great art, as well. We're overwhelmed by the volume and quality of submissions that we received."

The Quik Films voting period begins today and is open to the general public. Every Wednesday beginning, March 1st, four new films will be featured on the Quik Films website Visitors will be able to view the featured films and vote through an online ballot. At the end of each week, the votes will be tallied, the winner will be selected and the chosen film will be featured on the winner's gallery page. Four more films will be posted each week on the website until all have been viewed and voted on.  The winner will be announced by May 23rd, 2006.

The Quik Films Grand Prize winner will receive $2,500 along with an additional $2,500 to use towards the production of a new film, which will ultimately be considered for distribution by Quiksilver.  The three runner-ups will each receive $2,500 for the development and production of new films.
