Inaugural ASR Holiday Proving Popular with Brands and Buyers

Instant Enthusiasm for May 31-June1 ASR Holiday, builds big brand list

San Juan Capistrano, CA (March 14, 2006) – Retailers are rapidly joining the top emerging and established brands in hopping on board for ASR Holiday. With almost 3-months until the debut of ASR Holiday, the show is 90% sold out. Billabong, Quiksilver, Element, Hurley, O’Neill, Lost, Roxy, Rusty, Planet Earth, Adio, I Path, Cult and Fox are just a few of the industry’s strongest brands previewing full winter specialty lines to influential buyers at ASR.

The holiday show runs May 31 – June 1, 2006 at the Newport Dunes in Newport Beach, CA, bringing together top manufacturers and retail buyers explicitly for the holiday buying season. Created in response to the explosive growth in 4th quarter business for surf, skate, snow and youth culture companies, ASR Holiday fills retailer and exhibitor needs in a casual two-day event.
“ASR is where companies get their buying done. Until ASR Holiday, there wasn’t a venue where buyers could quickly shop this season,” says Kevin Flanagan ASR Show Director. “We are stoked to see that the holiday show will work as brands and buyers enthusiastically look to ASR Holiday to fill their growing holiday needs.”
“ASR’s holiday show is going to help us to see a lot of customers in one location, which helps our reps out a ton in regards to lightening their road work in May and June,” says Eric Thomas, Vice President of Sales at RVCA. “The timing of the show will also help us get a good chunk of orders in right before our production buys need to be placed.” Lifestyle brands Paul Frank and Rvca will be joined at ASR Holiday’s Newport location by emerging brands such as Strand Mfg, Fyasko, Vivix and Blunt.

Not only is the 4th quarter becoming a bigger priority for brands, but also for retailers. Sun Diego stores owner, Dave Nash, says that December is his stores’ highest selling month of the year - “Does that tell you how important holiday is to my business?” Previously, holiday buying was stretched from May through June, with reps relying solely on in store visits to sell the season. Dave Hollander, owner of Becker says, “To be able to put on my buying hat, see every line and write it all in 2 days will be so much better than having to wear that holiday hat for three weeks while the armies invade my office.  Color me stoked!”
