Team Palmer Is Up For The Challenge

Denver, CO…April 3, 2006…The slopes of Buttermilk, Colorado play host to the best snowboarders every year during ESPN’s Winter X Games, but April 4-6, 2006, Transworld SNOWboarding Magazine’s Team Challenge will take the traditional competition format and turn it upside down. And Palmer’s Team is ready for the challenge.

Joining teams from 24 other board companies for the good-natured gathering is Palmer’s strongest team to date: Olympic halfpipe rider Andy Finch, Elijah Teter, Robbie Dapper, Lex Koski and his twin sister, Tori. The competition, held in a “PIG” format, tests teams on kickers, rails and halfpipe as well as the most creative team costume.

Led by Andy Finch, the team has decided to celebrate (and protect) his reputation for taking hard hits. For this year’s competition they’ve chosen a football team theme and will hit the slopes decked in full football gear – pads, helmets, and all.

“I'm stoked to change it up from the typical snowboard contest format,” said Team Captain Andy Finch. “It will also be fun to ride as a team on springtime conditions in Aspen.”

Every team is allowed five riders and must have one female. Palmer’s roster this year represents the brand’s best athletes in all three disciplines. Finch, who went to the Winter Olympics in Torino, is an obvious favorite in the halfpipe. Following suit is Elijah Teter, anchoring the team both in the pipe and on the kickers. Robbie Dapper’s forte is on the rails and twins Lex and Tori Koski round out the team with solid skills in all three disciplines.

Team Manager, Loren Brinton, has a similar attitude to Finch’s. “Most of the contests this year had the extra stress of qualifying for the Olympics. It's good to see an event that takes the seriousness out of the sport,” said Brinton. “My main goal for this contest is to have more fun and laughs than any other team on the mountain.”
