Andy Tompkins Brings Decade of Trade Show Experience to ASR

San Juan Capistrano, CA (April 14, 2006) – ASR is proud to announce Andy Tompkins as the new Group Show Director for VNU Expositions’ ASR Trade Shows. Tompkins will oversee all marketing and sales strategies, industry relationships, and growth opportunities for ASR. ASR is confident that Tompkins decade of trade show experience promises to fuel the show’s success.

Starting April 24th, Tompkins will be taking over as the ASR Group Show Director. He comes to the world’s leading action sports trade show from his position as Show Director for the rapidly growing and highly successful VNU Expositions Outdoor Retailer Winter and Summer Market and Fly-Fishing Retailer World Trade Expos.  Tompkins has been with VNU Expositions Sports Group since 1996.

"I’ve spent a decade delivering unique business focused trade show environments, while maintaining a commitment to the core audience. We’ll continue making ASR a place where business is done, while allowing the vibe and culture of the lifestyle to carry over onto the show floor,” says Tompkins. “Looking ahead we’ll also work to further incorporate technology and the global interest in action sports to help ASR exhibitors expand their customer base.”

While at Outdoor Retailer, Tompkins was instrumental in growing the show to record attendance and sales levels.

“ASR's rich history and authenticity in the surf, skate, swim, snow and youth culture markets as well as the very experienced, senior staff ASR has, will allow me to hit the ground running,” says Tompkins.

“With Andy's specific experience in putting top buyers and sellers together in a specialty trade show environment, he has the unique capacity to take the ASR shows immediately to a higher level of value,” says David Loechner, VNU Expositions Sports Group President. “Andy understands the needs of the specialty and chain retailers as well as the needs of manufacturers, both established and emerging.  After 25 years of successful ASR shows, I couldn't ask for a more qualified and dedicated individual to lead the brand into the next 25.”

Tompkins is currently working toward his MBA at the University of California Irvine. He lives in Irvine, CA with his wife Megan. Tompkins is an avid golfer and snowboarder, who competed in the 1987 US Open of Snowboarding at Stratton Mountain.
