  • The deadline for non-fiscal legislation to be presented to the Senate floor is approaching quickly! Senate Bill 1179 has yet to be officially set for hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee. In order to make it to the Senate Floor, SB 1179 must pass through the Judiciary Committee by a majority vote prior to May 12.

Help protect skateboarding by permanently adding it to the list of “hazardous recreational activities” and give CA cities the ability to make the determination for gear requirements and age restrictions by repealing the helmet and pad restrictions currently in place.

Help end discrimination against skateboarders now! With the state judiciary vote so close, write a letter of support to the key Senators on the Committee:

    Senator Joseph Dunn (Chair)
    Senator Bill Morrow (Vice-Chair)
    Senator Dick Ackerman
    Senator Martha Escutia
    Senator Sheila Kuehl

Only 55 days left before the official holiday of skateboarding returns for a 3rd year of ruckus! Look for Fed Ex to drop a package of Go Skateboarding Day goodies on your doorstep this week. More than 450 packs went out to IASC members, retailers, and manufacturers. In that package you’ll find all the items you need to get your creative juices flowing and your own events and promotions rolling.

Retailers! Don’t miss Don Brown who’ll be speaking at the Board Retailers Retail Summit 3 in Los Cabos, Mexico. Don will be sharing his wealth of information about ‘Creating a National Event’ based on the Go Skateboard Day experience.

Order your Go Skateboarding T-shirt ASAP! Quantities are limited, so use the order form in the info kit and get the T-shirt before June 21st. Look for the Go Skateboarding Day ad in the most influential skateboarding magazines across the globe and make sure to line up some friends to shoot photos and video of you and your crew on June 21st.

The IASC Youth Committee is excited to announce that we will be hosting two FREE learn to skate days; the first one is planned for May 13th as part of a fundraiser for the Tulare County Skate Park. The second one will be on Go Skateboarding Day, June 21st, with the location to be announced soon.

Donations are needed to support this free program for less fortunate youth! Approximately 100 participants will take part in each day of the program and we will be putting together “goodie bags” filled with promo items for everyone who comes to the events.

We are in need of complete set ups and promo items and IASC members are encouraged to donate items for those kids who are truly learning to skate or unable to afford a set up of their own. These kids will appreciate anything you can send!

If you have any questions or would like to donate, please call Carisa Foreman at 949.789.7890 or Dave Metty 559. 308. 1365
