With Two Weeks To Go, Surf Expo Announces Packed September Schedule

September 1, 2006 - Surf Expo is the show people attend to write orders. It’s the longest-running show in the industry, and has grown over its 31 years to serve the board beach AND fashion markets. It’s also the show where thousands of retailers and exhibitors from across the country gather twice a year to celebrate the success and progression of the action sports community on the east coast.

Our Volcom mini-ramp contest offers a $25,000 purse this show! It’s a must-attend event for attending pros Steve Caballero, Mike Peterson, Kyle Berard, Corey Duffel, Pat Duffy and Matt Hensley, not to mention the most up-and-coming Am’s in the country like Grant Taylor and Collin Provost.

We also recently announced the premiere of the Monster Energy Wake n’ Bake Rail Jam, presented by Liquid Force. Orlando is wakeboarding and Surf Expo is the place wake comes to do business. We partnered with Pat Panakos of the Projects, the go-to guy for launch pool setups, who has designed a record-breaking 220-foot Rail Jam set-up that the world’s top pro wakeboarders and wakeskaters will be hitting all show long. Aaron Reed, Melissa Marquardt, Keith Lidberg and tons more are slated to slide.

Surf Expo September ’06 is also the premiere of LAUNCH, our juried section of top ten spanking-new brands in the surf/skate/style industries, and we received over 100 applicants! The Board Retailers Association is proud to present the ten winners. Check them out in the state-of-the art LAUNCH pad at the center of our show floor!

We continue to offer top seminars from the industry’s leading professionals. Whether our attendees are fresh to the show or have been attending for years, there is a workshop that will help grow, develop and/or run their business more effectively and efficiently.

Things are happening all over the show floor and all over Orlando. A few things: the NYC street artist team Endless Love Crew is painting an industry-inspired 256 square-foot mural and some other unique canvases. High-energy fashion shows go off throughout the entire three days. Christian Surfers US offers an open invitation to their worship service. Video premieres and industry bashes are scattered all over the Orange County Convention Center and across the city.

Don’t forget our own industry party sponsored by Innes and Vox Footwear, plus tons of others, set for 8PM on Saturday, September 16 at House of Blues in downtown Disney. Mickey won’t know what hit ‘em when Hank III rolls into town, setting the stage afire for the national smash Irish/punk headliners Flogging Molly! Get there early because it’s sure to fill up quick!

More than 9,500 retailers have pre-registered to attend September’s Surf Expo, our largest number ever! They will attend our events, industry-leading seminars and of course do what they come to Surf Expo to do: write, write, write.
