Introducing the inaugural No Fear Koastal Kaos Surf Series

On Saturday and Sunday, October 14-15, 2006 the inaugural No Fear Koastal Kaos Surf Series will splash down at Avalanche in San Diego, California. Created to be a “two series in one” property — the amateur series and the 25k No Fear Airshow — the San Diego-based series will entertain both amateur and professional surfers. The Koastal Kaos Surf Series will be comprised of seven events, with an added eighth “Invitational” contest planned for the series finale featuring the top competitors in each division.  The Invitational will introduce a tweaked format of double elimination, longer heat times and man on man finals.

“For the last two years in the San Diego area, No Fear supported both an amateur surf series and the SoBe No Fear Airshow series for professionals,” says Britt Galland, No fear Vice President of Marketing. “For 2006, we decided to pull both contests together and consolidate them into one.

“Our goal with the new Koastal Kaos Surf Series is to create a weekend surf festival-type of environment where amateurs will surf on Saturday and professionals will surf on Sunday,” continues Galland. “The amateur finalists will also surf on Sunday. We’re going to have all-new sponsors and boatloads of prizes and cash and we plan to back that up with highly competitive, high energy, fun events. I guess you can say we’re aiming to be thee surf series in San Diego.”

The Koastal Kaos Surf Series will also be heavily promoted via a new, state-of-the-art website. “The website will boast same-day video, photography and results, as well as a section for super-easy on-line registration,” says Galland. “And every month the home page for each series will recognize a featured surfer to promote themselves and their sponsors.”
