ALL BOROUGH SKATEBOARDING CONTEST SERIES
DC Shoes, the worldwide leader in performance skateboarding footwear, is proud to announce the kick-off of its inaugural King of New York contest series on Saturday, September 16, 2006. King of New York will play host to five skate contests over a three week period – one contest in each borough – with a single goal in mind: to crown the undisputed king of NYC’s street skating scene.
WHEN / WHERE:
09/16 – STATEN ISLAND – ABC Ledges – 555 Page Avenue
09/17 – THE BRONX – Tiffany Street Banks – 977 Fox Street
09/23 – QUEENS – Flushing Meadows Park – Meridian Road
09/24 – BROOKLYN – John Dewey High School – 50 Avenue X
09/30 – MANHATTAN – Brooklyn Banks – Pearl & Dover Streets
WHY / WHO:
The DC King of New York contests will run from approximately 11:00am - 5:00pm, with a maximum of 50 skateboarders participating in each event. The contests are free to enter and will utilize a jam format with judging handled by a panel of well-known NYC skateboarders, industry insiders, and members of DC’s world-renowned skateboarding team.
The top three finishers at each contest will take home cash and prizes, as well as valuable points in the overall quest to be named DC’s King of New York at the September 30th finale at the legendary Brooklyn Banks. To remain in contention for this lucrative grand prize, local skateboarders are encouraged to enter all five contests over the three weekend stretch.
When it is all said and done, the skateboarder with the highest overall point total will be crowned DC’s first-ever King of New York and pocket plenty of cash along with a grip of stylish footwear and apparel from DC.
There are three convenient ways to register for each contest:
1. Pre-register at DC’s flagship retail store located at 109 Spring Street in SoHo.

3. Register on-site the morning of each contest from 11:00am – Noon.
