INSTINCT CLOTHING SURF TEAM TO “SPORT” ORGANIC BOARDSHORTS FOR SUMMER ‘07

(Santa Barbara, Ca) January 19, 2007—INSTINCT Clothing is taking a new direction with organic materials.  The first will be the release of their upcoming 2007 boardshort.  “We decided to set ourselves apart from the other surfwear manufacturers that dominate the market today”, states Tom Brown, Vice President of sales and marketing.  “A group of natural cotton swimwear will be available in addition to the microfibers that are so prevalent in the boardshorts being offered.  The introduction of Instinct’s 100% natural cotton boardshorts for young groms has been a very exciting direction in terms of design, fabrics, & colors. It is the beginning of a move towards more eco-friendly products which we feel are important for the future”, states Brown.

INSTINCT, originally established in South Africa by World Surfing Champion Shaun Tomson, was relaunched early last year. Following success in 2006, both with the introduction of their boys’ surfwear as well as distribution of Shaun’s new autobiography Surfer’s Code, INSTINCT is now poised to set a precedent in the surfwear market. At a time when microfibers continue to define boardshorts, INSTINCT will show the market how you can be both successful as well as ecologically conscious.   “Our vibrant new designs will excite parents as well as the toddlers and groms we target”, says Brown.  “The batik process found on the new boardshorts is done entirely by hand, which helps set INSTINCT apart from the mass market”.  INSTINCT, known for its “core” surfwear, continues to push the envelope for 2007.

Hand colored in Bali, the new boardshort has been described by several buyers as comfortable, whimsical, and parent- friendly. The reaction from the sales team has reinforced the use of organics for the coming season. “With new stores coming onboard weekly, INSTINCT feels positive about the direction we have taken”, states Randy Paskal, CEO and President of Solitude LLC.  “We relaunched the INSTINCT brand to appeal to a younger group of surfers.  They have been overlooked and I believe we currently have an eco-friendly product that appeals to that younger audience.
