Leading Board Riding Charity Brings Celebrities and The Action Sports Industry to Throw Down for a Good Cause

Los Angeles – March 14, 2007 – Stoked Mentoring, the non-profit action sports organization, is partnering with the United States of America Rock Paper Scissors league (USARPS) for the “First Annual Celebrity Rock Paper Scissors Tournament and Fundraiser.”  Proceeds from the March 17 event, held at Marvimon in Los Angeles, will be used to benefit Stoked’s Surf, Skate and Snow Mentor programs.
Presented by Bud Light and Mountain Dew, the fundraiser will match celebrities and action sports athletes against the general public for a no-throws barred friendly competition.  With bragging rights at stake, competitors will be planning their strategies for minutes, if not hours, ahead of time to make sure the one shot at toppling an elite celebrity is not wasted. The winner gets two round trip tickets from Jet Blue.

“RPS is something we all can enjoy, regardless of our athletic ability on a board or with a ball.  It’s a level playing field for everyone and a perfect game to tie into our fundraising efforts,” said Sal Masekela, Stoked co-founder, X-Games announcer and co-host of the E! Channel’s Daily 10.  “Our RPS event is guaranteed to be a good time, for a good cause.  It doesn’t matter if you’re one of the world’s best skateboarders or a mainstream celebrity, you’ll still have fun!”
