GoPro Announces New Customer Service Hire

PESCADERO, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2007) – GoPro, the designer and manufacturer of the most innovative collection of micro digital cameras for sports, announces the hire of Justin Wilkenfeld as Director of Customer Satisfaction and Online Outreach. Wilkenfeld begins working with GoPro the week of September 10.

GoPro has created this new customer satisfaction and online outreach position to expand on the company’s already strong direct dialogue it maintains with consumers online. Wilkenfeld will help further establish GoPro not only as a leader in digital camera technology for sports and outdoors, but also as a leader in consumer satisfaction and communication.

GoPro takes great effort to stay in touch with consumers directly to ensure great service while also keeping its finger on the pulse of what consumers want.

“Having started as a bootstrap organization, we’ve been in close touch with our customers since day one,” states Nicholas Woodman, GoPro founder and CEO. “I’ve always enjoyed talking with our customers directly on the phone when they call in, or out on the mountain or in the water while we’re out testing our products. This helps us stay in tune with what they really want from our products, which is a big key to our success.”

“Our growth over the past year—expanding into more markets with a broader line—has created more opportunities than ever before for us to engage the consumer in dialogue,” Woodman says. “We’ve grown to the point where creating a department dedicated to increasing our dialogue with consumers is essential. Justin’s background in high-level customer service program management makes him a perfect fit, and we’re fired up to have him expand this new division of GoPro.”

Justin comes to GoPro from the demanding financial world of TD Ameritrade Institutional. Justin worked for over seven years at TD Ameritrade Institutional, most recently managing an elite relationship effort that handled TD Ameritrades high profile advisors and top key accounts.
 
A world-traveled surfer and life long outdoor sports enthusiast, Justin brings to GoPro not only his experience with high level customer service management, but also his passion for the outdoors.

“I’m trading in my loafers for flips and slacks for boardies,” jokes Justin, “but I am bringing with me the experience and attention to detail that the highest level of customer service demands. I’m excited to join GoPro because they see customer service as not something you have to do, rather as an area where they want to excel. GoPro is very enthusiastic about the customer experience and I’m stoked join their mission.”

Coming off of an incredibly successful Outdoor Retailer Summer Market trade show last month, GoPro is experiencing strong bookings of its new Helmet HERO camera and mounting accessories, including the Ride HERO bike seat post and handlebar mount, which will begin shipping into stores on November 1.

The company will be exhibiting at the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas Sept. 26-28. GoPro also will be making its motorsports trade show debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas Oct. 30-Nov. 2. At SEMA, which is the premier automotive specialty products trade show in the world, GoPro will be unveiling its new Motorsports HERO edition of its digital camera, which will be available at retail November 1.
