ASR Announces Packed Event Line Up for January Event

Runway shows, movie premieres, skate contests, seminars and fundraisers round 3-days at ASR, January 24-26th

ASR arrives in San Diego, January 24-26th with one of the most complete event offerings to date. Make time during the busy 3-days to check out Matix’s Lord of the Lines contest, two days of the ASR Runway show, movie premieres and fundraisers that add to the ASR experience. On the business end, ASR’s free seminar series provides a forum where retailers and exhibitors alike can learn how to grow their businesses.

“ASR is much more than a trade show in large part because of the creative energy the entire industry puts into ASR’s one-of-a-kind event schedule,” says Andy Tompkins, ASR Show Director. “While ASR is focused on connecting the world’s best buyers and sellers in the business of action sports, we’re always looking for new ways to make the whole experience richer for our guests that travel from around the world to attend ASR.”

The ASR Runway show, co-sponsored by Foam Magazine, puts young contemporary and juniors’ apparel in motion twice during ASR. The flirty, fast paced ASR Runway comes alive on Thursday and Friday, January 24th and 25th, at 2:00 in Hall H. The theme for January 2008 is “The Breakfast Club: Return of the High School Clique.”

ASR is partnering with the Action Sports Environmental Coalition to highlight the action sports industry’s steps toward developing more sustainable business practices and products. Stop by the ‘Green Room’ in Ballroom 20 A, B and C, to see the latest eco-conscious products and initiatives coming out of action sports green movement.

The ASR industry party is taking over the new Hard Rock Hotel on Friday night, January 25th. Music, food, beer and a silent action will come together to benefit the Surfrider Foundation, Project Blue, and the SIMA Environmental Fund. During the party, O'Neill will be premiering their latest video "The Life.” ASR badges will be requested for admission.

On Saturday afternoon, Matix will host an invite-only list of pro/am skaters to compete for $16,000 on a series of rails and other features in the Lord of the Lines contest. This event will be open to the public. Also in the skate area is the Skate Hardgoods section, CreateAskate, a mini-ramp, street course and the DVS Beer Garden.

Stars from the action sports, music and film worlds cruise ASR to see what’s next in the industry. Keep your eyes open throughout ASR to meet your favorite riders and stars in person.
