Fat Lip Introduces Guarantee to Aid Retailers in Struggling Economy

FAT LIP Brand Group (“FAT LIP” or the “Company”) today announced that it has introduced the “FAT LIP Guaranteed Sale Program” (the “Program”) to aid independent retailers in uncertain economic times. The guarantee applies to the Company’s apparel, accessory and hard goods program and launches in conjunction with the release of the Spring 2009 line. It is also available immediately on product shipped as of November 1st, 2008.

Aimed at the Company’s North American wholesale customers, the Program provides retailers the opportunity to place orders for FAT LIP products that are backed by the Company’s promise to buy back any product that hasn’t sold at the end within a 12 week time frame. The Program is aimed at supporting the independent action sports retailers the Company serves – a segment that has been hit hard by the effects of weakening economic conditions.

Mike Wolfe, President, FAT LIP, stated that the introduction of the Program was initiated both by empathy and by competitive pressure, “We’re a small company and can’t compete with the significant discounts and long payment terms that the large players are offering. Likewise, our primary customer is the small, independent surf and skate shop owner who needs new product, brands and colors to keep customers excited and coming into their store. The Guaranteed Sale Program was designed to give them a break and help them get a little extra product onto their shelves, without the fear of what they were going to do if it didn’t move.” Wolfe also mentioned that this program is an intentional alignment with the value-oriented positioning of the Company’s products, whereby a higher level of fit and finish is offered at a lower price to both the retailer and the customer.
Francois-Xavier Brunet, Creative Director, FAT LIP, said, “We did two months  of in-market testing before releasing the new line and have a very good sense of what’s hitting the right notes. The Program centers on the best of our line. We’re simply backing up that research with a guarantee, so that our customers can approach the future with the same confidence.”
