T-Minus One Week Until Surf Expo Kicks Off the 2009 Trade Show Season
Registration numbers and a packed events schedule promise a strong showing in a weak economy

With a week before Surf Expo kicks off the 2009 trade show season for its industries, the show is reporting an increase in shop pre-registration, more than twenty show features, three days of seminars and a strong community of manufacturers counting on its commitment to business to start off strong with some busy order writing after a lackluster fourth quarter and holiday retail season.

“As of this morning, retail store registration is up 6% over same time last year, a possible indication of good things to come”, Show Director Roy Turner says. “Our retailer attendee preregistration is down 14 percent, but most of that drop can be attributed to retailers bringing only their key buyers to the show,” he explains. An even more promising number, first-time store attendance has climbed an unprecendented 68%, with a significant increase in both northeast and west coast retailers.

Surf Expo is committed to offering a complete experience and has over twenty show features and events to keep its attendees abuzz. Included in this hefty list are brand new runway-style fashion showcases down the center aisle of the show, the premiere of Team Pain’s Skate Art in its Skate Park open to all attendees, an actual reproduction of Hensley’s Flying Elephant Pub and Grill, the return of music to the Beer Garden for afternoon entertainment and daily Happy Hours with the free beer on Surf Expo’s tab. All guests are also invited to Adobe Gila’s at the Pointe Orlando for a weekend-long Surf Expo party.

The Board Retailers Association is bringing more timely seminars to the show floor. The seminars, always standing-room only, will continue to be an attendee favorite with topics like Buyer 101: How to Make the Most of Your Visit to Surf Expo”, “Ten Inexpensive Things You Can Do to Improve Your Website” and “Eco-Nomics Now: an all-star Executive Panel of industry leaders and athletes addressing the volatile economic climate”.
