FUEL TV's Animated Short Sweeps Awards
“Looking Thru The B-Sides” Golden At NYF Film & Video Awards, Best Short At X-Dance

FUEL TV, the only network dedicated to the lifestyle of action sports, is proud to announce its first animated short film “Looking Thru The B-Sides” picked up three Gold World Medals and one Silver World Medal at the New York Festivals 2009 Film & Video Awards and won Best Short at the X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival.

“Looking Thru The B-Sides” is an animated short film that combines a variety of mediums: live-action, stop-motion and hand-drawn animation. It features Ollie, a skateboarder looking for inspiration in his conformist world, who accidentally falls into the universe of the B-Sides where he tries to reunite with his lost skateboard. Along the way he finds himself faced with unique surprises around every corner.

At the New York Festivals 2009 Film & Video Awards, the animated short won Gold World Medals in the “Short Films,” “Craft: Direction” and “Craft: Animation” categories, and took the Silver World Medal in the “Craft: Art Direction” category. At the X-Dance Action Sports Film Festival, “Looking Thru The B-Sides” was named Best Short.

The animated short film was conceived by FUEL TV and produced by Saiman Chow, Sean Dougherty and the crew at Golden Lucky (golden-lucky.com) in New York City, who invested about half a year to create this award-winning work.

"We knew from the minute we began talking to the crew at Golden Lucky that they were going to do something amazing," says Todd Dever, FUEL TV's Creative Director. "These awards prove that and are just the acknowledgment that the creative team deserves.”

“We gave the Golden Lucky team a lot of creative freedom and our trust in them paid off,” says Jake Munsey, FUEL TV’s VP of Marketing and On-Air Promotions. “Their talent and hard work turned a simple idea into an amazing short film that has inspired us and many others in our field.”

“We are honored for the recognition that we’re receiving for ‘Looking Thru The B-Sides,’” says Golden Lucky’s Chow. “Our team put everything they had into this project and it’s rewarding to see the reaction it’s getting from the creative community.”

“Looking Thru the B-Sides” is screening next at the 11th Annual California Independent Film Festival in Livermore, California, April 16-19, 2009, and will be at several other film festivals this spring and summer.
