Quiksilver Skaters Team Up with for Race to S.K.A.T.E Contest
Video Upload Contest Features Fresh Looks at Newly Remastered Tracks from Beastie Boys Album “Paul’s Boutique”

Putting a spin on the traditional game of “skate” (skateboarding’s “horse”), Quiksilver and are launching a user-upload video contest called “Race to S.K.A.T.E.” In this version, the object of the game is to get all letters in S.K.A.T.E first as opposed to last.   Throughout the month of March, Quiksilver will upload a new video every Friday with a different Quiksilver pro doing five tricks. The contestants must then film themselves doing these same five tricks, earning them one letter per trick, spelling S.K.A.T.E with five successful tricks.  

Quiksilver team-riders featuring their tricks are Tony Hawk, Alex Olsen, Danny Garcia, Reese Forbes and Kyle Leeper.  Each pro’s skate video will feature a different track from the newly remastered 20th Anniversary Edition Beastie Boys album “Paul’s Boutique”, now available in stores and at

Contestants are to upload their videos to with the title “Race to S.K.A.T.E.” Each week, the first five skaters to successfully do this will win a prize from Quiksilver; the first complete video wining first prize and so on.  Prizes are as follows:

• FIRST PLACE: a signed deck from the pro whose tricks the winning contestant challenged, a rare signed remastered 20th Anniversary Paul’s Boutique vinyl record, a Quiksilver backpack, a pair of Quiksilver Coolmax Denim, two T-Shirts, a sweatshirt, and a Quiksilver/ sticker pack. 
• SECOND PLACE: Beastie Boys remastered 20th Anniversary Paul’s Boutique CD, a pair of Coolmax Denim, two T-Shirts, and a Quiksilver/ sticker pack. 
• THIRD, FOURTH AND FIFTH PLACES: Beastie Boys Remastered 20th Anniversary Paul’s Boutique CD, a T-Shirt, and a Quiksilver/ sticker pack.

Rules for skate tricks are as follows:  Tricks can be done all at once (in a line) or separately, but all five tricks must be in one video upload.  Tricks must be done exactly the same as the pro trick; a backside turn in the trick must be done backside according to the skater’s stance. If the pro is goofy and contestant is regular, the contestant must turn the same rotation based on his or her stance.  Tricks must be landed cleanly, which means landing the trick and riding away – no toe dragging and no hands down on the ground to keep balance.
