FUEL TV Partners with Rip Curl to Offer 2009 Rip Curl Pro Webcast
Network To Provide A “TV-Bustin’ Quality” Viewing Experience On

FUEL TV, the only network dedicated to the lifestyle of action sports, is partnering with Rip Curl to offer an enhanced live webcast from the final days of the 2009 Rip Curl Pro Surf & Music Festival. Starting April 9, 2009, FUEL TV will webcast the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, when the contest happens.

The 2009 Rip Curl Pro Surf & Music Festival takes place at Bells Beach in Torquay, Victoria, Australia with a holding period from April 7 to April 18, 2009. It features both a men’s and women’s pro surf contest. Both are the second stops of the men’s and women’s ASP World Tours, respectively.

“We’re really stoked to cover this prestigious contest with our new webcast capabilities,” says Gene Pao, FUEL TV Vice President of New Media and International Development. “We’ve worked with Rip Curl in the past on shows from the Bells contest, and to be able to offer this new high-quality webcast format is an exciting addition to our relationship. This webcast will offer fans another opportunity to watch all the action in “TV-Bustin’ Quality,” a near HD viewing experience that’s better quality than what you’d see on standard definition television.”

“Rip Curl is thrilled about building on its partnership with FUEL TV,” says Neil Ridgway, Rip Curl’s Group Advertising and Marketing Chairman. “FUEL TV has broadcast amazing television shows of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach for the last five years, and we're eager to take our collaborations to the next level. It’s exciting to have FUEL TV provide this additional live webcast, in its enhanced quality. This will allow the U.S. audience to get a whole new look at this esteemed contest, now in its 37th year.”

FUEL TV continues to look for new ways to provide entertaining and exciting content to the action sports community, and it’s recently produced several HD quality webcasts, including the prestigious 2009 Tampa Pro skateboard contest, an ass-shaking rock and roll concert by the Eagles of Death Metal and delivered a near HD webcast of the inaugural Red Bull Snowscrapers snowboard contest.

FUEL TV is also offering full-length episodes of its programming in HD Streaming on its web site. Viewers can watch HD versions of shows such as “New Pollution” and “Firsthand” using the same HD player as is used for the 2009 Rip Curl Pro webcast.

The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach will also be featured on FUEL TV in late spring in an hour-long television show. In addition, FUEL TV is producing a 30-minute television show around the 2009 Rip Curl Women’s Pro, which will air May 21, 2009 at 8:00pm ET/PT.

Make sure to check out the FUEL TV webcast of the 2009 Rip Curl Pro Surf & Music Festival starting on Friday, April 9, 2009, depending on the waves and contest conditions.
