EVENT: Rick Johnson To Be Awarded At 2010 TransWorld Motocross Awards
Legend Award Recipient Rick Johnson To Be Awarded At 2010 TransWorld Motocross Awards Presented By Rockstar Energy Drink October 7
On Thursday, October 7, at The Grove of Anaheim in Southern California, TransWorld Motocross is pleased to be honoring Rick Johnson with the 2010 Legend Award during the annual TransWorld Motocross Awards Show. Rick Johnson was one of the greatest AMA motocross and Supercross racers of all time. He has been riding dirt bikes since he was three years old, winning his first National championship for Yamaha in 1984 at age 20.
“Ricky Johnson is one of the guys I grew up idolizing as a kid. Sadly, my career as a journalist didn’t overlap his amazing racing career, but I’ve still been fortunate enough to become friends with RJ,” said TransWorld Motocross Editor in Chief Donn Maeda. “I think everyone can agree that Ricky Johnson is one of our sport’s most beloved legends.”
Ricky was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999 for his many AMA championships and a 1986 and ’87 Pro Athlete of the Year Award. Troy Lee will be presenting Ricky with the Legend Award at the invite-only 2010 TransWorld Motocross Awards Show Presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, amongst fellow pro riders and members of the motocross industry. In addition to honoring the Legend Award and Rockstar’s Lifetime Achievement Award, many other motocross notables will be vying for other awards such as Racer of the Year, FMX Rider of the Year, WMX Racer of the Year, Rookie Racer of the Year, Breakout FMX Rider of the Year, and Readers’ Choice.
The show will be hosted by Cameron Steele and co-hosted by Andy Bell. Special thanks goes out to all the sponsors: Rockstar Energy Drink, New Era, Metal Mulisha, and AFMXA for sponsoring this year’s event. For more information on the awards, go online to transworldmotocross.com.
