EVENT: Liquid Aloha Music Festival Comes to Orance County

Liquid Aloha Music Festival Comes to Orance County
Saturday, July 23 at Newport Dunes, Newport Beach

Kailua-Kona, Big Island of Hawaii . . . Kona Brewing Company will be bringing its annual Liquid Aloha Festival to Orange County on Saturday, July 23 at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort in Newport Beach, CA. Doors open at 3:00 pm and festivities kick in to high gear when headliner Matt Costa takes the stage. Costa signed with Jack Johnson’s label Brushfire in 2005, and OC Weekly says his Mobile Chateau songs “have that old, laid back, '60s pop vibe that you get from the Zombies or Donovan.” Surfing Magazine describes Costa’s sound as “cruisy jams you’ll connect best with at dusk on a lonely road or on a glassy Sunday morning.“

Kona Brewing will be serving Longboard Island Lager, Fire Rock Pale Ale, and Wailua Wheat on draught for only $5 for 16 ounce pours throughout the festival. Matt Costa, Timmy Curran, Leslie & The Badgers, Two Guns and The Kalama Brothers will be performing on the main stage with festivities wrapping up at 9PM. The 21-and-up tickets are $15 and are available at Brown Paper Tickets. This is the second Liquid Aloha Festival in 2011, with the first in San Diego going off July 9.

This year’s festival aims to be similar in sustainability values to the Kona Brewer’s Festival, which drastically minimized trash through numerous recycling and composting stations. After a full day of 2,500 people and 42 brewers consuming food and beer, the festival produced only half of a rubbish container, equaling roughly the amount of garbage produced during a typical breakfast period at a fast food establishment.
