3M Recognized in Interbrand's "Best Global Green Brands" Rankings
Company honored for environmental operations and sustainable products
3M has been named one of the world’s “Best Global Green Brands” by leading brand consultant Interbrand. The company ranks second globally in the 2011 standings and first among U.S.-based organizations. The award signifies another notch in a longstanding list of more than 35 years of 3M’s sustainability efforts.
Interbrand’s scores are calculated based on comprehensive analyses of both environmental performance and consumer perception across multiple markets. 3M was commended for its decades-long commitment to environmental practices and for offering customers a variety of sustainable products. Additionally, the study praised the company’s corporate social responsibility and sustainable operations, including an award-winning energy conservation program.
“At 3M, we are constantly striving to improve and execute sound, sustainable practices,” said Gary Pearson, Marketing Operations Manager for 3M’s Performance Safety Materials. “It’s gratifying when 3M’s efforts are recognized in Interbrand’s rankings, which acknowledges our unyielding commitment to future generations.”
3M first formalized its Pollution Prevention Pays (3P) program in 1975 and has made significant strides since then toward achieving its sustainability goals. 3M first adopted its environmental policy in 1975 and now offers a wide range of green solutions ranging from The 3M Cleaned Green Program to 3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation with Recycled Fibers.
