Octagon Expands Surf Business With Addition of Payne Brothers & Lau
Agency Builds Presence in Hawaii; Dylan Payne Will Manage Top Hawaiian’s Dusty Payne & Ezekiel Lau

Global sports and entertainment marketing leader Octagon today announced the expansion of its surf business through a strategic partnership with experienced surf manager Dylan Payne. Payne, who will serve as a senior client manager, will continue to manage two of the best young surfers in America in his brother Dusty Payne and 18-year-old Ezekiel (Zeke) Lau, all of whom will be integrated into the company’s global operations.

“Dylan has a lot of valuable experience in the surf industry and will be a strong addition to our team,” said Octagon’s Global Director of Action Sports, Amen Teter. “His presence in Hawaii will allow us to continue to grow our surf business both domestically and internationally and will provide him with access to our global resources.”

Dylan has surfing in his DNA.  Born and raised in a family of surfers, he has been deeply engrained in the surf industry from an early age.  As an independent manager, Dylan has successfully helped manage the careers of his brother, Dusty, and the young upstart Zeke, as well as worked with many of the most admired brands in the sport. Payne will continue operating out of his Hawaiian base in Lahaina, HI and will interface with Octagon’s Australian and United States locations.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to join Octagon and help expand their surfing business,” said Dylan. “My work with my brother Dusty over the years combined with Octagon’s proven success in the industry will give us access to more resources as we continue to grow.”

In addition to bringing Dusty and Zeke on board, Octagon’s surfing division includes some of the best young talent in the industry including: Jack Robinson, Owen Wright, Alana Blanchard, Monyca Byrne-Wickey, Mitch Coleborn, Ry Craike and Jay Davies.

“Dylan has proven to be a valuable asset in managing Dusty and Zeke’s careers and we look forward to expanding our athlete roster with one of the most talented athlete managers in the industry,” said Director of Surfing, Matt Syms. “Being based in Hawaii will give us the opportunity to capitalize on one of the largest surf markets in the world.”

Dusty, 23, is widely regarded as one of the most versatile surfers in the world and earned a third place finish in the 2011 Nike U.S. Open of Surfing. A complete surfer, Dusty excels in competitions and has earned starring roles in ground breaking surf films including Lost Atlas (2011) and Scratching the Surface (2010).
