Exposure: Sonic Generations of Skate at the Clash at Clairemont 7

On Saturday, June 1st, over a thousand people crammed into the YMCA Krause Family Skatepark in Clairemont, Calif. for the Clash at Clairemont 7 to benefit Grind for Life, an organization dedicated to providing financial assistance and general support for children stricken with cancer and was founded by pro skateboarder Mike Rogers, himself a two-time cancer survivor.

The all-day event featured the Sonic Generations of Skate, a unique three-man team event with skaters competing on a half-pipe from a recent X Games competition.

This was good news for skaters who were familiar with the terrain, vert riders like Tony Hawk, Andy MacDonald and Mitchie Brusco, who made up Team Black - one of four teams in the competition. Team Black won the overall event, which consisted of four separate contests: individual runs, high air, best trick and team triples. Other participants in the Sonic Legends of Skate event included Bucky Lasek, Pierre Luc Gagnon and Kevin Staab.

The Clash at Clairemont began in 2007 as a cooperative effort between Pro Skateboarder Andy Macdonald, the YMCA, Grind for Life and Industry Sponsors.
