NoRep teams up with FIRST DESCENTS for boardshorts supporting young adults with cancer
Press Release from NoRep Boardshorts
June 2013 – Honolulu, Hawaii – NoRep Boardshorts teamed up with Denver, Colorado based non-profit FIRST DESCENTS for a limited edition pair of boardshorts that support the organization and their fight to help young adults with cancer.
Founded in 2001 by professional kayaker Brad Ludden, FIRST DESCENTS offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same.
Each year, more than 70,000 young adults are diagnosed with cancer in the US alone. In contrast to both younger and older patients, survival rates for young adults have not increased since 1975. FIRST DESCENTS uses outdoor adventure as a catalyst for addressing these issues by de-stigmatizing cancer, renewing a sense of self and creating a supportive community.
“We’re honored to be working with an organization like FIRST DESCENTS – we can’t even begin to understand how difficult it would be to go through cancer at this point in our lives and to know these guys help make it easier for the survivors is amazing,” says NoRep founder Tomas Kloosterboer.
The NoRep X FIRST DESCENTS Boardshorts are made with the best lightweight and 4 way stretch fabrics for the best comfort and performance. The boardshorts feature a comfortable, performance-oriented cut that uses NoRep’s True Fit size system, featuring odd and even sizes from 30-36. The boardshorts sell for $54.95 and are available on the NoRep and FIRST DESCENTS web sites. All shorts sold are a donation to help FIRST DESCENTS host their action-sports adventures.
