Sony Action Cam Adds X Games Gold Medalist Tom Schaar

Sony, a worldwide leader in digital cameras, proudly announces the addition of X-Games gold medalist Tom Schaar to “Team Action Cam”.  The first skateboarder to join the group, Tom’s unique style and progressive skating are a seamless fit for Action Cam’s team of leading action sports athletes.

“I’m excited to join Team Action Cam,” said Tom Schaar. “I’ve already started using the camera and the quality of the videos is awesome. The cam is super easy to use while I’m skating and makes it simple to share a behind the scene look at what I’m up to at contests or just hanging out with friends.”  Check out @TomSchaar’s newest video, #ActionCam.

Tom’s signing is the latest step in Sony’s aggressive marketing plans for 2014 supporting the Action Cam line and the flagship model, the AS100V camera.  Team Action Cam now features a total of 26 athletes spanning skate, snow, ski, surf, BMX, motocross, mountain bike and rallycross. Sony’s Action Cam has also developed event sponsorships, resort partnerships and trial programs and launched the interactive microsite
www.sony.com/actioncam.  It can all be found @ActionCam on Twitter and Instagram, #ActionCam.

"We’re thrilled to welcome Tom - he’s a perfect fit for Team Action Cam’s diverse crew of leading athletes and content creators,” said Patrick Huang, director of the camcorder business at Sony Electronics.  “With a variety of class-leading features including the new Live Stream capabilities, the innovative Action Cam line gives our athletes the ability to capture and share stories with an unlimited level of creativity.”
