E&I: Photo Break With Chip Kalback
Since my last newsletter I sent out in March, I've had the privilege of adding a few new names to my client list and I've also just updated my portfolio at ChipKalback.com. It's been a busy spring and a lot of fun. It all started with an ad campaign for Boa Technology..
In March I spent three days at Keystone Mountain with the Boa Technology snowboard team for their athlete summit, with riders having flown in from all over the United States, Europe, and Japan. Our main goal was to capture photo and video assets for advertising use, from print and web advertising to point-of-purchase display and catalog imagery. With each day starting at 5 A.M. and stretching well into the night, we were literally shooting and snowboarding from sunrise until sunset.
We also spent a day in Aspen, shooting with Olympic and X Games athlete Gretchen Bleiler at sunrise on the top of Aspen Mountain. Gretchen is the new face of Boa Technology's Reel Pink campaign, which aims to increase breast cancer awareness.
With the lack of snow and unseasonably warm temperatures, I was able to get out and shoot a feature story for the April/May issue of the Brooklyn based fly fishing magazine, This Is Fly.
Shortly after having spent some time in Aspen, I spent a few days in Breckenridge with the Line Skis team shooting their next catalog.
This spring I also received word from French ski magazine, SKIEUR, that one of my images had made the cover of their publication which makes it my second cover with the magazine. It's an image of professional skier Ahmet Dadali, in the terrain park at Keystone Mountain.
My ski season ended with an ad shoot for Bollé, with professional skier Mirjam Jaeger.
Now that summer is here I'm focused on shooting a few personal projects, music related work, and a client project that I'm really excited to share once it's complete. Of course that will have to wait until the next newsletter, which will be coming out at the beginning of September. If you'd like to visit my newly updated portfolio, it's available at ChipKalback.com
