B$Z: Get to Know the Road to Supercross Class of 2015: GEICO Honda's Jordon Smith
The 2015 season of AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael's Road to Supercross is one of the most anticipated seasons ever. The next generation of superstars are hard at work preparing for the start of their professional careers and one of the most anticipated debuts this season will be that of North Carolina native Jordon Smith.
In 2015 the GEICO Honda rider will make an attempt to race both AMSOIL Arenacross and Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, in the same season. Smith's highly anticipated debut kicks off at the opening round of AMSOIL Arenacross inside Cincinnati's US Bank Arena on January 10. Smith's speed and talent will be put to the test as he races against a group of the fastest title contenders ever assembled on an arenacross track. Following AMSOIL Arenacross, Smith will transition into Monster Energy Supercross where he is a contender in the Eastern Regional 250SX Class.
"The biggest difference coming into AMSOIL Arenacross is the intensity. There are short tracks and short races, and those guys don't leave anything out there [on the track]. You can't leave the door open for them and you have to be smart with the racing. Arenacross always has a lot of fast guys and they definitely don't mess around, so it should be interesting."
With two AMA Amateur National Championships on his resume and the factory backed GEICO Honda team in his corner, Smith is one of 2015's most promising young supercross stars.
The 2015 AMSOIL Arenacross season kicks off on Saturday, January 10 from Cincinnati's U.S. Bank Arena and will travel the country over the course of 15 rounds before coming to a dramatic conclusion at the season finale in Las Vegas on May 1.
