B$Z: Blundstone Celebrates Success at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival

February 9, 2015

That’s a wrap. Iconic footwear brand Blundstone is celebrating the success of its Sustaining Sponsorship of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

Creativity met comfort this year as film industry favorite, Blundstone, stepped into the spotlight as the Official Boot of the festival, held in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah from January 22 – February 1, 2015.

The original Chelsea boot brand since 1870 from Tasmania, Australia, hosted several initiatives as part of its collaboration with the industry incubator. The sponsorship activities kicked off at the Day One Party at Legacy Lodge, where over 2,000 attendees enjoyed interactive games, social media contests, and received free or discounted products.

As a Sustaining Sponsor, Blundstone’s most noticeable presence was at the front entrance of the Festival Co-op, known as the “social hub” for attendees. Over 15,000 festivalgoers were invited to the Blundstone booth to try on and purchase boots at a 20% discount, exclusively offered through the Sundance Catalog for the duration of the festival. Guests were invited to enter Blundstone’s daily film-related “Identify the Indie” contest and Instagram promotion for a chance to win boots. A prestigious gathering took place at the Blundstone Hospitality Suite in Festival Headquarters, where Blundstone hosted more than 300 filmmakers, jurors and special guests who received a complimentary pair of Blundstone boots. Attendees included actress Alia Shawkat (“Nasty Baby”), short-film makers Daniel Gray and Tom Brown (“Teeth”), and documentary filmmakers Greg Whiteley (“Most Likely to Succeed”), Michael Nichols and Chris Beach (“Welcome to Leith”).

“Participating in Sundance was a natural partnership for us,” says International Sales Executive, Andrew Ross. “We share the same core values and synergies with attendees. The feedback and response to Blundstone was extremely positive and brand engagement onsite proved to be valuable. We look forward to developing these types of partnerships in the future.”

In celebration of Australia Day and Australian filmmaking talent at the festival, Blundstone joined Ausfilm as a sponsor of the industry networking brunch on Monday, January 26. Six Australian projects were showcased including Assent, Followers, Partisan, Sam Klemke's Time Machine, Strangerland, and The Face of Ukraine: Casting Oksana Baiul. At the conclusion of the brunch, 15 lucky guests were awarded a pair of Blundstones of their choice. Throughout the years, Blundstone has proven to be the go-to boot within the film industry both on and off screen.  Highlights of Blundstone’s presence on television and in feature films has included titles such as Transformers 4, Criminal Minds, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Californication, among many, many more.
