B$Z: The Orchard and Brain Farm Partner for 5-Year, 11 Film Output Deal

Film/TV distributor and top-ranked multi-channel network, The Orchard, has inked an exclusive deal with Brain Farm, the Emmy Award-winning entertainment, production and media company that specializes in creating innovative and cinematic films, TV series, and commercials. The multi-film partnership extends Brain Farm and The Orchard’s existing relationship to encompass 11 feature films slated for release between 2017 and 2020, all of which Brain Farm will produce and The Orchard will distribute to all video-on-demand on a worldwide basis.

Brain Farm’s new slate will feature world-renowned snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, motocross and mountain bike athletes in groundbreaking cinematic journeys around the world, filmed with cutting edge 4K and 8K camera technology. The Orchard already distributes two Brain Farm-produced films, including their first blockbuster featuring professional snowboarder Travis Rice, That’s It, That’s All, and its follow-up, The Art of Flight, which charted at #1 on iTunes and became the store’s highest grossing action sports film to date. In addition to providing digital film and retail marketing support for Brain Farm’s upcoming slate, this expanded partnership also capitalizes on The Orchard’s leading role in music distribution and marketing by releasing and promoting curated music soundtracks around Brain Farm’s films, synchronizing these with the film’s release and creating targeted digital advertising.

Brain Farm is owned and presided by Morgan, who with his films has sought to revolutionize the face of action sports filmmaking. Brain Farm and The Orchard are gearing up for the release of the studio’s next big feature, We Are Blood, coming this August. The Mountain Dew Green Label Films and XDubai sponsored movie stars renowned skateboarder Paul Rodriguez and features a cinematic approach and high-tech equipment never before seen for a skateboard film.

The deal was negotiated by The Orchard’s VP of Sports, Danny Grant, VP of Business Development, Doug Shineman, and Brain Farm’s Curt Morgan.
