Copper Mountain Resort Welcomes John Monson as Director of Sales & Marketing

20+ year ski industry veteran joins the Copper Mountain Resort team

Copper Mountain Resort is excited to announce John Monson as its new Director of Sales & Marketing. Monson boasts more than 20 years of experience in the ski industry with his start at Copper Mountain in the early 2000s, and most recently at Sugar Bowl Resort and Royal Gorge Cross Country in Lake Tahoe serving as the Director of Sales & Marketing for the last 7 years.

John’s extensive experience and knowledge of all things ski resorts coupled with his passion for Copper’s culture make him the ideal candidate to take our Sales & Marketing Divisions to new heights,” said Jesse True, Senior Vice President of Copper Mountain Resort. “I have no doubt that John will hit the ground running and be tremendously successful as a strategic leader at Copper.”

As Director of Sales & Marketing, Monson will oversee day-to-day operations of the Sales and Marketing teams as well as play an integral role on the Resort’s Executive Leadership Team.

“I'm truly thrilled to be rejoining the Copper community and can't wait to start contributing toward the continued success of this great resort,” said Monson. “I've always considered Copper my home mountain, and it's going to be a privilege to lead the sales & marketing efforts through some very exciting seasons ahead.”

John, his wife Bridget, and their two small children are relocating from Truckee, CA to Summit County, CO. John will report directly to Jesse True.

With Monson in place as the Director of Sales & Marketing, True will continue to oversee Sales, Marketing, IT, E-Commerce and Woodward Copper. In addition, True will take on the oversight of Copper’s Mountain Sports Division which includes the Ski & Ride School, Terrain Parks, Competitions and Golf businesses in addition to heading the Revenue Management Division.
