New Ravean Ultra-Light Down Heated Jacket Launched on Kickstarter
Ravean, maker of the world’s first heated down jacket that became the second-most funded apparel in crowdfunding history last year, has introduced its new Ultra-Light Down Heated Jacket on Kickstarter. It’s half the weight of the original jacket – and it’s the perfect mid-layer to take any coat to sub-zero temperatures.
“The light weight feature is great because you can stay warm without the bulk, which makes for a perfect mid-layer that can literally go with any jacket you own…and it's even perfect for the arctic,” said Ravean Co-founder Bryce Fisher. “We’ve also simplified our heating system compared to the original version, which makes our new jacket more affordable and practical.”
The new Ravean Ultra-Light Heated Jacket weighs only 80 grams, which is half the weight of the original Ravean Down Jacket, and is about one-fifth the weight of typical bulky down winter jackets produced by well-known brands. Ravean has also increased the jacket’s mobile smartphone charging ability, which can re-charge mobile devices up to four times on a single jacket charge.
Ravean Co-Founder Jonathan Bybee says the heating elements are located on the back, chest and pocket areas of the jacket – putting the heat where people need it most – and it comes with a one-button heating system with three settings for low, medium and high.
“We also relocated our lightweight battery in our Ultra-Light just under the left arm so your shoulder carries the weight…and you won’t even notice it,” Bybee said. “And even though our new jackets are ultra-thin, they keep you warm at temperatures as low as 5 degrees Fahrenheit (minus-15 Celsius), and then can be used in sub-zero temperatures when worn as a heated liner under a shell.”
Additional features include:
- Sleek, slim fitting styling
- Improved rip guard shell
- Durable water repellent (DWR) coating
- Aluminum heat-reflective lining to keep heat in and keep the elements out
- Hydrophobic down insulation, enabling the jacket to dry faster, repel water longer and retain loft when damp
- Removable hood and rear drop tail back protection (for sitting on cold seats, rocks, rowing, etc.)
- Exterior chest pocket
- Pocket zipper pulls and improved zippers
- New tuckable enlarged inner cuff and under arm stretch panels
- Ability for wearers to use their own QC 2.0 2amp battery
- Capability to charge mobile devices up to four times on a single jacket charge
- Washer and dryer safe
- Ravean Ultra-Light Jackets are available in men’s sizes from small to 3XL and women’s sizes from XS to 2XL.
A limited number of super early-bird specials are available for crowdfunding backers priced at $99 for the jacket and $139 for the jacket and a high-capacity 100 mAh battery.
In 2015, Ravean raised more than $1.54 million on Kickstarter and Indiegogo with the backing of close to 10-thousand global consumers with the world’s first heated down jacket.
“With the introduction of our new Ultra-Light version of the jacket, which offers more functionality and versatility for all uses, we expect the Ravean Ultra-Light will be another big hit with our crowdfunding friends,” Fisher said.

Let’s be real here for a moment; we’re not the first people to come up with the idea of heated jackets or heated gloves. We’re just the first ones to do it right. By doing it right we mean our jackets look good, they’re durable, they’re affordable and they integrate our technology seamlessly and unobtrusively. Finally, there’s a heated jacket you can wear with equal comfort and style from the mountains to the office without missing a beat. Sure, it’s been tried before, but other solutions have been pricey, ugly and the technology was problematic. Ravean has addressed and solved each of these issues to present jackets you can wear anywhere, that are as stylish and durable as they are warm and cozy. For more information, visit ravean.com.
