Director of Sales - Sporting Goods and Consumer Accounts

Sales management  professional with 10  years of experience in  sales management and 10  years as an independent  rep. Self Starter,  great motivator. not  afraid to get my hands  dirty to help the team  get the job done

As Director of Sales for Mace, I am responsible for all facets of service for all Sporting Goods and Consumer Accounts.  Working with an independent sales force totaling 50+ sales reps.  Key SG accounts include Dicks Sporting Goods, The Sports Authority, Cabelas and over 500 independent retailers and 15 National SG distributors.    On the Consumer side, i am managing the business for Kmart, Sears, Auto Zone, Ace Hardware and Office Max.  We are prospecting Wal Mart, Advance Auto, Lowes and Home Depot to name a few.  Sales forecasting.  Production Planning, Building Sales Programs.  Managing an $8 million dollar sales plan.

North American Director of Sales for Easton Bell Sports Snow and Bike divisions.  including Giro Snow, Giro Cycling, Bell Cycling, Easton Cycling and Blackburn Cycling.  Responsibilities were all that they were for my previous Director of Sales job with EBS, and now included all Cycling products as well.  Managed a sales plan of $80+ million dollars.

Director of Sales

North American Director of Sales for Giro Snow products.  Managed a Sales budgets between $22 and $30 million dollars (depending on year).  Managed 16 sales territories and approx 35 independent sales representatives.  Direct involvement in business that came from over 1000 Specialty shops and 3 National accounts, Dicks, TSA and REI.  Established sales programs, set and tracked sales goals, weekly sales reporting, assortment planning, production planning, inventory management.    Continued to sharpen my skills with SAP and BI reporting software.

First ever Mountain Sports National Sales Manager for Under Armour Apparel.  Sourced and hired 10 independent rep agencies to manage 10 territories in the newly created Mountain Sports Division.  Opened 500+ specialty snow-sports retail accounts across the US.  Established Under Armour's membership in  the Snow-sport Industries of America trade organization, as well as in two snow industry buying groups, Sports Specialists Limited and Snow-sports Merchandising Corporation.  Established sales programs.  Involved with product assortment planning, sales forecasting, weekly sales reporting  Managed all field sales work through rep agencies on a national level.  Became proficient with SAP, BI and Business Explorer sales reporting software.

Senior National Sales Manager

Independent sales representative for Oakley Inc.  Managed a $4,000,000 territory consisting of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.  Serviced over 200 retailers and employed one full time and one part time employee.  Serviced all distribution channels for Oakley, including snow, surf, bike, sporting goods, optical, sunglass specialty and golf.  Implemented all Oakley sales and promotional programs and initiatives

Independent Sales Representative

Responsible for scouting, signing and servicing top athletes and up and comers in the sports of skiing, mountain biking, triathalon, duathalon and speed skating.  Created promotional opportunities to ensure that Oakley was getting maximum exposure and contract value.  Negotiated contracts directly with athletes as well as through agents.  Organized promo appearances for sponsored athletes at events and retail stores.  Managed an annual budget of $500,000 and 150 athletes.  Responsible for countless examples of Oakley product exposure in print and TV.  Created 5 MTV Sports episodes featuring Oakley athletes.  Secured two Sports Illustrated Covers featuring Oakley athletes.

Sports Marketing Manager

In May of 1986, while working for Elan Monark, I was promoted from Warranty Service Manager to Marketing Assistant.  Reported to president and marketing director and directed all facets of the companies marketing,advertising and promotional efforts.  Coordinated print media projects from concept to delivery of finished material.  Developed and coordinated a $500K accessory and apparel program from concept to delivery of finished goods.

Marketing Assistant

Responsible for managing and processing all warranty claims submitted to company by customers and dealers.  Managed inflow of defective product, processed and organized paperwork and timelines for service turnaround.  Communicated with customers.  Made decisions on how to proceed with warranty claim.  Set up and revamped entire paperwork and process for the warranty claim process across two product categories.
