Freelance Graphic Designer

Hello there! 

My name is John-Pierre, or just JP for short. I was born and raised in California and grew up an active child that was curious about everything. Having an active mind motivated me to pursue many hobbies including art, skating, music, video games, getting down and dirty outdoors, critical thinking (that sounds so nerdy), sports, and exploring my creative side. All of the hard work, and hard fun, helped me graduate from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles with a degree in Graphic Design with experience in the Fashion Design discipline. 

Graphic Design laid the foundation for all of my creative and design interests as it opened the doors and allowed me to see all forms of design and creativity in a new way. I've been lucky enough to have been a part in some of the most innovative companies of my time. From helping grow one of the first online streetwear stores Digital Gravel, opening KidRobots Los Angeles retail location and building it's client base, to creating graphics for the groundbreaking brand Plan B Skateboards. All of my experiences have lead to a greater understanding of what amazing design is and its relation to the consumer and their lifestyle. 

I spend my free time indulging in my interests that can include anything from classic 90's hip-hop to 60's-70's bossa nova, fine art to comic books, play time to product design, or teaching myself a new recipe. I also enjoy a good beef brisket and Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. I like to stay light hearted and passionate while still working my hardest to create the best experience possible for anyone to enjoy!

Conceptualizes and creates graphic designs and assets based on briefs from department heads. Projects include order forms, POP, layout work and more. Currently geared towards the sports teams that call Madison Square Garden home. The New York Knicks (NBA), The New York Liberty (WNBA), and The New York Rangers (NHL).


Conceptualizing, designing and developing 6 in-house lines under the company umbrella. From concept to completion. Spearheaded apparel ideation, initial sketching, seasonal direction, technical drawing, thread and material approval, lab dips, production strike-offs, graphic design, graphic pattern design, color card, merchandising, brand identity and brand direction. Successfully converted the companies client base from off-price and discount retailers to specialty boutiques and high end department stores.

Creative Director/Head Apparel Designer

As the sole Graphic Designer for Plan B I ideated and developed all graphic elements and applications for the apparel and t-shirt lines. My main duties included t-shirt graphics, apparel applique, and label packages. In addition, I contributed in catalog layout, sampling and sample strike offs, production strike offs, matrice creation, accessory design, and accessory packs. I was able to cultivate the independent streetwear vibe and incorporate it into the athletic aesthetic Plan B is known for. Assembled research and reference tears as well as taking reference trips to create mood boards for each seasons design direction.

Graphic Designer

Composed graphic layouts for daily product updates including product shots, website layout, and the uploading of all product related graphics. Forged new relationships with established and up and coming brands to introduce to our customers. Additional contributions included producing any media advertising layouts, event promotion, and graphic designs for the in-house apparel brand “Nonsense”. Assisted in building Digital Gravel into one of the most well visited and shopped e-commerce sites dedicated to streetwear culture for almost a decade.

At Kid Robot in Santa Monica I helped open the company's new retail location. Helped to build a customer base from new and returning customers. Ordered store product stock based on trends and highlights from our location. Facilitated any art shows the store had including Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, Friends with You, Tristan Eaton, Huck Gee, DJ Shadow and many more. Helped build a celebrity customer base as well as a figure concierge service.


Sales/Visual Merchandising

A certified triple threat at Green Apple Tree, I produced a wide range of apparel graphics as well as design styles for the cut and sew line. Other contributions included line sheet creation and retail visual merchandising. The graphics and styles I devised helped set the tone for what the line became known for, garnering a greater visibility for consumers as well as increased sales to retailers.
