Product Engineer (aka Technical Designer)

Twenty years in the apparel industry within product development & technical design. Experienced in casual sportswear (knit & woven) for women/juniors, men's & kids as well as women's swimwear.

•Create and maintain garment specification packages in Excel, utilizing pre-designed templates for Mens, Women’s & Kids lifestyle apparel products.

•Analyze styles from past seasons to use as blocks for new designs presented at handoff.

•Measure and review construction of all samples prior to all fit sessions. 

•Lead & participate in fittings on both live model & on dress form. 

•Analyze & summarize all fit issues with use of photos and/or technical flat sketches to illustrate all necessary corrections to improve fit and/or construction.

•Monitor daily communication with overseas vendors and other internal cross-functional teams in order to advise status, stay on calendar, and to keep specification packages current.

•	Assisted in multi-faceted projects within the production, costing & QA departments ranging from proof reading PO’s, data entry in Excel based reports, organization of wash standards, coordination of samples for send out to vendors.

Temporary Freelance Associate

•	Managed the development life cycle of raw materials that primarily consisted of fabric and trims, from initial concept through production of sales samples and in many cases, through bulk production.
•	Partnered with the technical design team and the Hong Kong (HK) sourcing team in order to ensure on time delivery of prototype samples.
•	Monitored daily communication with our HK sourcing team, overseas vendors and internal cross-functional teams regarding development status, design changes, approvals and various topics that require resolution in order to stay on calendar.
•	Teamed up with garment factories and raw material suppliers in order to manage costing and negotiations.
•	Partnered with the design & merchandising teams in order to obtain necessary and timely approvals and/or comments for strike off, lab dip and trim developments.
•	Initiated and maintained raw material development status tracking reports on Excel.
•	Initiated and maintained database library of raw materials within the PLM database.

Product Developer - Calvin Klein Womens Swimwear

•	Managed the entire life cycle of the development process of juniors knit garments, starting from initial concept through bulk production.
•	Monitored daily communication with overseas vendors and cross-functional teams regarding development status, design changes, approvals and various topics that required resolution in order to stay on calendar.
•	Initiated and maintained garment spec packages and database of raw materials in Web PDM.
•	Prepared all prototype samples by tracking, measuring and reviewing construction prior to fit sessions.
•	Partnered with technical designers to conduct fittings and to resolve fit any issues in order to approve fit.
•	Partnered with garment factories in order to manage costing and negotiations.
•	Worked and partnered closely with the design team in all phases of development to obtain necessary approvals for fit, construction, trims, lab dip and strike offs.
•	Assisted technical design in creating sketches on Corel Designer and Adobe Illustrator.

Product Developer - Girl's Knit Apparel

•	Measured and reviewed construction of all samples prior to fit sessions.
•	Assisted product developers and management in various functions that included communication with overseas vendors, wash tests, package retrievals, data entry, filing and maintenance of tracking reports.
•	Oversaw the development of selected styles for men and juniors categories as assigned by management prior to official promotion to as a product developer.

Spec Technician/Product Development Assistant

•	Initiated and maintained proto development spec sheets in File Maker for the denim and logo lines. 
•	Created flat technical drawings with Adobe Illustrator, primarily to illustrate construction detail and logo placements.
•	Assigned style numbers for new prototype samples being developed.
•	Under direction of merchandisers, created and maintained line sheets for all styles being developed for the current season/delivery. 
•	Worked closely with design and merchandising in regards to testing new fabrics in existing styles.  
•	Processed production purchase orders in File Maker and in bebe’s ACT system.
•	Assisted in developing specs based on fit approvals and cross-trained in other categories as directed by management.

Pre-Production/Design Coordinator - Denim and Logo

•	Created and maintained garment development packages in PDM for children’s apparel. 
•	Monitored daily correspondence with overseas factories.
•	Measured all samples prior to fit sessions. 
•	Worked closely with patternmakers to problem solve spec discrepancies between pattern and sample garment. 
•	Participated in fittings to establish fit standards of prototype samples.
•	Executed all changes as outlined in designs & merchant’s line change memos to keep all spec packages current. 
•	Summarized construction detail, partnered with grading technicians for grading information, and created technical sketches with Micrografx to illustrate styling/silhouette of garment and instructions on how to measure.

Spec Technician/Technical Designer – Esprit & DKNY Kids

•	Assisted in production phases that include manual spreading of fabric, manual markers and cutting and bundling of garments.

Production Assistant

•	Working internship for a local design house that specialized in men & women’s fashion.
