Senior Level DESIGN DIRECTOR and leader with a proven track record of successfully managing the design process from concept through completion. Expertise in all aspects of design, including but not limited to: private label product development; forecasting trends; print, pattern and color direction; concept boards; merchandising and editing of product line; costing and fittings. All experience also includes working with knits, sweaters and wovens; including denim (new washes and treatments) in addition to working with both domestic and overseas manufacturers.

Manage, execute and oversee all design development of Summer and Fall 2016 for O'Neill Junior's Swim, Board Shorts, Cover Ups, Active and Hybrid Performance Apparel divisions, including Girls Swim.

-Research and presentation of color, fabric, and trend direction; in addition to recoloring all print and pattern in photoshop, creating tech packs, give comments / approvals on submits and attend all fittings.

-Responsibilities also include follow-through on all Spring 2016 design and development.

Sr. Design Consultant - O’Neill

Responsible for the direction and development of the product line producing $110 million in annual sales while managing and leading a team of fourteen; consisting of four Sr. Designers, three Assistant Designers, three Pattern Makers and four Textile Designers.


-Research and develop color, fabric and trend direction for all Mainline and Private Label categories; while maintaining clear understanding and focus of core customer base for all accounts.

-Conceptualize, build and develop brand / trend right product ideas for both Mainline and Private Label, including but not limited to: knit and woven tops, sweaters, dresses, skirts, active and sleepwear.

-Present private label assortments based on key retailers needs, creating and merchandising specific product catering to each retailers private label brands such as Thalia Sodi, Macy’s; Hannah and Rebecca Malone, Stage Stores; Denver Hayes, Mark’s; Leoma and Coral Bay, Bealls; Covington and Beverly Drive, Sears; Great Northwest, Fred Meyer and Venus.

-Oversee Designers throughout the sampling process in reviewing development samples and approval of counter samples.

-Domestic and International travel to identify emerging trends, key silhouettes and color, in addition to visiting overseas factories for the development and follow through of product line.

Design Director - Women's

Determine the brand’s seasonal direction in addition to leading and managing all aspects of design and development. Managed a design team of six; consisting of three Sr. Designers, two Associate Designers and one Assistant Designer.

-Key role in the success of re-identifying the brand profile and relaunching a.n.a. as a Women’s Contemporary Brand, which was down to $200 million at start within my new role and grown to $300 million at peak performance.

-Conceptualize and present to women’s apparel teams and Sr. Management the brands seasonal direction; direct the creation of original concepts that encompass the brands aesthetic through style, color, print, pattern and fabric ensuring team offers customer focused designs that are consistent with the brand profile.

-Extensive domestic and overseas Travel for inspirational and development needs to lead and direct the product design direction for each season.

-Managed the seasonal design calendar and determined strategic direction of business goals; accountable for process improvement, growing business and seeking opportunities that positively affect division.

-Provide strong leadership and management skills to an efficient and effective design team that meet the needs of each individual area of responsibility, in addition to coaching team through performance feedback, goal-setting and development plans.

-Act as a role model and demonstrate effective use of best practices related to analysis, fact-based decision making, process orientation, process re-engineering and/or design, effective meeting management, project management and help to foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the organization.

-Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines within a large organization.

Design Director- a.n.a. Women's Contemporary Brand

Responsible for re-developing Disney Store specific design direction based off of Disney Global Direction. Developed and directed presentations with specific Disney product themes, which included trend direction, color palettes, promotional opportunities, in-store concepts and delivered presentations to team of fifty plus associates. Managed four direct reports: Sr. Design Manager, RTW; Sr. Design Manager, Graphic Design; Sr. Design Manager, Role Play; and Designer, Accessories; with an additional ten in-direct reports.

-Developed and Implemented Product Development Process Calendar.

-Key role in re-developing and re-launching over all aesthetic and quality of Disney Store Apparel, Accessories and Role Play (costumes).

-For Fall ’09, Holiday ’09 and Spring ’10; identified specific color and trend direction for pre-school, toddler, boys and girls franchise specific categories such as, but not limited to: Minnie, Mickey Mouse Club House, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, Handy Manny, Cars, Toy Story, Wall-E, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Snow White, Ariel, Tiana (Princess & The Frog) Fairies (Tinker Bell), High School Musical, Camp Rock, Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, Jonas Brothers, DSI (online specific product)

Director, Softlines Design

Responsible for the total design requirements for the Junior’s Division and directed the entire design process from concept through completion, including managing and maintaining design calendar for Junior’s division. Facilitated and conducted concept meetings to entire organization.  Managed and provided European trend reports for apparel and marketing, which identified key trends, silhouettes, fabrications and color also including visual and marketing direction for upcoming seasons. Worked closely on daily basis with upper management, merchants, sourcing, tech design, and marketing. Managed three direct reports: Sr. Designer, Designer, and Assistant Designer as well as a team of outside freelance graphic design resources on a regular basis.


-Identified and provided new trends, silhouettes, color, fabrications and innovative ideas through extensive travel and knowledge of Domestic and European markets including Tokyo, also including visual and marketing direction for upcoming seasons.

-Designer of Knit/Woven Tops, Dresses, Sweaters, Outerwear, Swim and Bottoms for Anchor Blue private label brand.

-Designed and launched Heidiwood brand for Heidi Montag of MTV’s The HILLS which resulted in an exclusive deal with Kitson boutique on Robertson and selling out of both the Spring and BTS collections, and also resulted in favorable publicity in the market for Anchor Blue.

-Responsible for total design requirements for the Junior’s Division with an annual expense budget of over $200k.

Sr. Design Manager - Juniors

Responsible for the entire Junior’s design process from concept through completion. Designed Knit and Woven Tops, Sweaters, Swim, Board Shorts, Graphic T’s and Outerwear for Tilt, Lilu and Nollie private label brands. Managed one Associate and Assistant Designer and an ongoing team of up to six outside freelance graphic design resources on a daily basis.


-In ’04, total percentage of categories designed for was 18% of overall junior’s business, which equated to $50 million dollars in sales for the year.

-Played a key role in the success of launching new private label brands Lilu and Nollie.

-Both individually and in collaboration with other designers, provided direction for Seasonal Trend Reports which identified key trends, silhouettes, color, print and pattern.

Designer - Juniors

Held a variety of increasingly responsible design positions with above noted companies from 8/91 - 4/00.

Earlier Experience

Managed entire Junior’s design process from concept to completion. Designed Knit and Woven Tops, Outerwear and Dresses for Wet Seal, Blue Asphalt and Evolution private label brands. Managed one Assistant Designer.
