Marketing Manager

I am a creative and dedicated member of any team, eager to have a basic knowledge of all functions of a company in order to make strategic and thoughtful decisions within my immediate role. As the Marketing Manager for Visit Oceanside, I have had the privilege of interacting with local business owners, residents and visitors to gain a diverse perspective on what people love about Oceanside.  I have been able to use my “insider” knowledge to make Oceanside a leading visitor destination in Southern California. 

Marketing a destination over the last 4 years has given me the tremendous opportunity to grow as a professional and discover the complexity of the hospitality industry.  Uniquely, when marketing a destination, I have had to creatively paint a picture in order to sell an experience and a state-of-mind for an individual, family or group.  I believe that my strong foundation of marketing a feeling, will give me greater insight into conveying the excitement and emotions of marketing a tangible item.  

For the next stage of my career, I would like to work for a larger organization with room for internal advancements.

In my leisure time I love being a “tourist”.  I enjoy to try new things and experience new places.  Whether it is taking a day-trip on the train to explore a new city, participating in a behind-the-scenes tour of a business or planning an extended trip with friends and family, learning and exploring is definitely a passion of mine.

MARKETING:
- Manage $100,000+ advertising budget, oversee the development of advertising creative and submit artwork to media outlets.
- Develop annual marketing plan incorporating dynamic campaign themes, supporting collateral and promotional giveaways. 
- Collaborate with website, social media and public relations contractors to ensure a cohesive voice and brand message.
- Manage production of annual Oceanside Visitors Guide; including ad sales, copy writing, photography and editorial approval.
- Write content for monthly email blasts to a distribution list of 14,000+ including visitors, industry peers and community leaders. 
- Manage website content and oversee social media profiles. 
- Collaborate with Sales Department to:
----- Offer marketing support to help facilitate lead generation for the sales department.
----- Communicate regularly with sales team to inform them about marketing campaigns, target audiences, etc. 
----- Create a positive visitor experience during citywide events through event specific landing pages, welcome signs, deal cards and community resource information

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: 
- Report directly to CEO / President and assist in daily activities including meeting coordination, proofreading of documents, etc. 
- Edit and prepare formal documents, including: monthly reports, presentations and press releases.
- Coordinate meetings and events, including: monthly Board of Director meetings, bi-monthly industry meetings, annual mixer and annual Oceanside Tourism Summit.
- Serve as office manager to facilitate building maintenance/repairs, order office supplies, coordinate water deliveries, etc. 

COMMUNITY AND INDUSTRY RELATIONS:
- Represent organization at community meetings, networking events, industry meetings and conferences – locally and nationally
- Maintain positive relationships with City officials, Board of Directors, community leaders, industry peers and volunteers.
- Assist visitors at the California Welcome Center-Oceanside and coordinate hotel accommodations as needed.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Proficient in Microsoft: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word; with experience using Photoshop 
- Internet Software: Email Marketing (Constant Contact and MailChimp), WordPress and Zoho (CRM)
- Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter

MARKETING:
- Developed content and designed marketing materials, including: marketing campaigns, brochures, newsletters and fliers.
- Managed website updates to following branding guidelines and to ensure easy navigation of site. 
- Wrote content for monthly email blasts; distributing to donors, volunteers, corporate and community leaders.
- Wrote and distributed press releases to local media outlets. 

FUNDRAISING:
- Coordinated and lead fundraising presentations targeting school districts, corporations and local businesses.
- Maintained and updated company profiles, including: contact information, donation history and corporate volunteer hours. 
- Coordinated annual Campaign Kick-Off special event and School Supply Drive; solicited over $1,500 in raffle prizes.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM:
- Developed strategic plan for Corporate Volunteer Program to educate corporate groups on possible volunteer projects.
- Coordinated and promoted volunteer opportunities to individuals and corporate groups. 
- Secured monetary and in-kind sponsorships for community events, volunteer programs and special events. 

Provided administrative support: answering telephones, directing callers to assistance programs, taking messages and faxing information.

Community Relations Associate

- Provided the highest level of customer service through: the sale of products, professionalism while taking orders and designing custom cakes, maintaining the cleanliness of the store and creating an overall positive experience for all patrons. 
- Represented The Cake Shop at community and private events.
