Master // Professor

Matt is an award winning designer and international design educator. A multi-disciplinary creative director and strategist who balances real world design execution and brand experience with innovative thinking. Direct experience designing a wide range of projects from creating exceptional user experiences to performance based sporting good design (FW,APP, EQ). Because Matt also holds an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management he has a strong aptitude for advanced innovation projects, creative entrepreneurship, and new business ventures. 

Successes include nearly 30 patents on a variety of products shown in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Cooper Hewitt Museum in NYC and multiple international design awards.

Prior to managing the Strategic Design // Innovation program at the DeTao School of Design Matt was a successful Global Creative Director at Nike, VP of Design at LifeStyleDesign in Santa Barbara, and a Digital Design Manager at Frog Design in San Francisco. All of these experiences have helped make Matt a world class designer with a global perspective. 

In charge of undergraduate Strategic Design // Innovation program (Esslinger Studio) at SIVA-DeTao School of Design within the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA) campus.

Experienced in all aspects of design and leadership; product design (hard / soft / digital / apparel), packaging design, talent acquisition, cross functional team leadership and management, third party (licensee) management, project management, brand strategy, design operations, mentorship, creative direction, advanced innovation, and consumer insights / research.

Worked on all day-to-day activities of running a successful product design and branding agency. Personal focus on digital modeling, rapid prototyping, and general design excellence support. Projects included premium eyewear design / strategy and consumer audio EQ.
